For those people calling Mr. Aaron Broussard a "liar"
I presume that these people are referring to the segment on Meet The Press recently where Tim Russert tried to make a liar out of Mr. Broussard. BTW shame on you Tim Russert, you should be ashamed of yourself for re-traumatizing Mr. Broussard and blindsiding him with the earlier segment, the least you could have done was let him know ahead of time your intentions. I think that the episode aired on September 25th on MSNBC. You can read the transcript at WWW.MSNBC.MSN.COM. I would hardly agree with these people that Mr. Broussard was "proven a liar." I think that is a matter of opinion, and far from fact.

What did Mr. Broussard supposedly lie about? That his friend called his mother instead of the mother calling the friend? Is that is? Is that what these people believe makes him a "liar"? The immoral majority never ceases to sink to new lower levels; what kind of person needs to debate this kind of thing? Since when do we attack people who are traumatized, who have lost more than we can imagine, who are grieving, who are struggling - what kind of human being does that? What kind of human being does that and can't even see how unkind and mean spirited that is? I think the particulars of who called whom are NOT the issue here. I think people who try to make that the issue are missing the point. Furthermore, if we are going to start judging liars, how about we start with the neoconster gang in the White House? They have lied through their teeth, right to our faces for nigh on 5 years now.

1. People are dumb
Some just need more attention than others.

2. I saw that segment, and felt that Monsieur Broussard
wiped the floor with Timmy Twoshoes. Decisively. Made him look like the partisan, toadying hack he is, frankly.

3. And those here who ask about the evacuation, the buses, etc.
Yes, mistakes were made at every level.

However, I don't understand those here on DU who mimic the memes of your daily Two Hour Hate on your favorite AM station or cable news channel.

Broussard's facts were wrong in some regards. His story was dead on true.

This is the same approach taken to the Texas documents. Question the typography so loudly that we don't notice that the person best in a position to know, Killian's secretary, says even if the documents were fake the contents were accurate.

Everyone has forgotten that last part.

We won't let America forget that the gist of Broussard story is true, and we will not rest until those responsible for the complete collapse of the federal response are held responsible.

4. Yes, the Federal Government's colossal failure in Katrina must
be rectified. I will now let them distract me from the substance with the form.

5. Please repost this thread topic in the LA forum
I think there are a couple of "newcomers" to DU who like to post there, evidently trying to swiftboat Mr. Broussard, the LA officials, and spew every RW talking point, always with a disclaimer of looking for the "truth." Thanks.
