7. Conservatives want to starve schools to death, just like the government
and then "remake" them in their own image, with nefarious tools such as vouchers (their version of them, anyway).

That has long been a tenet of their thinking.

I forgot to say that Bennett was speaking to the Texas Legislature in 2003 in support of HB 1445, which would have authorized spending $23 million dollars over the next two years to provide computers, networking, and support for his "virtual charter schools," i.e., for home schooling.
