Apparent suicide bomb kills one outside University of Oklahoma stadium
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/ncaa/10/01/oklahoma.explosion.ap/

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- One person was killed in an explosion in a traffic circle about 100 yards from a packed football stadium at the University of Oklahoma on Saturday night in what authorities were calling a suicide.

"We are apparently dealing with an individual suicide, which is under full investigation," OU President David Boren said in a statement.

There were no other reports of injuries. There was no word on the identity or sex of the person who died.

The loud noise of the explosion could be heard clearly inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where 84,000 people were watching the Oklahoma Sooners play Kansas State.

1. Seems this should be getting wider coverage and more in depth
reporting than is happening.
Boren seemed to dismiss this rather quickly and
all the news sources went along.

9. reaction will depend on what color the person was.
If brown & muslim then reaction = scared and angry (terra terra terra). :grr:
If white & christian then reaction = sad and understanding (poor guy, he was clearly influenced by terra).

you know the drill.

12. White, Christian bombmakers in OKC get defended by city mayors
The former OKC repuke mayor is this kid's landlord, he defended the kid afterwards, offering every excuse in the book to get charges dropped.

A University of Oklahoma student accused of transporting an explosive device into Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City last week is still enrolled and could begin classes at the Norman campus next Monday.

OU public affairs vice president Catherine Bishop confirmed Tuesday aviation senior Charles Alfred Dreyling Jr. is still a student. Dreyling is one semester away from completing an aviation management degree, according to his lawyer Kent Eldridge.

Norman Police Lt. Tom Easley confirmed the department's participation in the search but said he would not comment on the nature of the items removed from Dreyling's Norman residence, nor would FBI spokesperson Gary Johnson. One charge of attempting to carry an explosive or incendiary device was filed against Dreyling in the Western District of Federal Court in the State of Oklahoma. Eldridge said as far as he knows, prosecutors are not planning to file new charges against Dreyling.

Though an unidentified Homeland Security official wrote in the Aug. 12 memo the Transportation Security Administration is proceeding with a recommendation that the FAA revoke Dreyling's commercial license, no such actions have taken place said FAA spokesperson Roland Herwig. Dreyling received the license May 5.

I do think this is important.

But I think I'll wait and see what else comes out about this before drawing conclusions.

14. There is also an FBI investigation going on at OU
FBI, state insurance department investigating OU health clinic

http://www.normantranscript.com/homepage/local_story_209003738.html?keyword=leadpicturestory

State officials confirmed Wednesday two separate investigations were opened into reports of possible insurance fraud at the University of Oklahoma’s Goddard Health Center, a student health clinic on the Norman campus.

Jessica Fisher, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Insurance Department, said Wednesday she could not discuss the nature of the complaint or the investigation. She did, however, confirm a case had been opened and forwarded to the Oklahoma State and Education Employees Group Insurance Board. Hilary Johnston, a spokeswoman for OSEEGIB, said an investigation also had been started by the FBI.

OSEEGIB is the state agency that provides insurance coverage for state employees and contracts with many of the state’s higher education entities, including OU. The agency does not currently contract with OU, but in 2003 most of Goddard’s patients received coverage through HealthChoice, an insurance plan administered by OSEEGIB.

A lawsuit was filed last year by a former doctor at Goddard who claimed he was fired after uncovering possible health insurance fraud. Goddard is the main health clinic on the university’s Norman campus and provides basic medical services to students, faculty, staff and their dependents.
