Who thinks we are going to see some new soldiers in the torture photos?
How is the administration going to explain not pressing charges against them even though they have seen the photos?

Anyone care to guess?

1. I think it's important that these pictures come out
but I am so not looking forward to hearing about them or seeing them.

3. I agree
I think it's important that people know exactly what is going on, I just hope the pictures aren't completely exploited like the freeps do with photos of aborted babies.

They deserve to be public and freely available, but not put on a protest sign.

5. You really think you are going to see those photos?
I don't.
They are much too damaging to B*shCabal™
to ever see the light of day.

You make an excellent point with your question,
but it's really just one more reason
for them to NEVER release the pics.

7. Some Gruesome Photos have Been Release Recently
Front page of AmericaBlog 2 days ago. "You hit the nail on the head. These soldiers will never be the same. And to think most of them were ill-guided in their zeal to defend freedom that they believed the
lies that took them there. What a tragedy. As for Lyndie, she's just a sacrificial lamb being offered up...We all know they were ORDERED to do this shit."
~~~
"Still, I can't believe that this is something that the majority of our soldiers would participate in, or condone. I won't believe it. If I do, I'll go crazy."That is part of the reason the majority in this country has been so passive: It's too close to the bone, it's too personal to imagine. Denial and jingoism are more comforting and safe.
At this particular moment, I don't know what to think. I have a lot of sympathy for the troops, I understand the complexities that may force someone to join...
But, in the end, they volunteered, no wait, they were HIRED to do this "job". I'm not sure right now that I support them... Sure, they are just following orders, they didn't chose to go to Iraq... But why the sadism?
Our military culture is murderous and our society needs to account for it. We pay these people to carry on our imperial destruction and they become imperial soldiers, sadism, humiliation torture and all...
This IS our realit, this IS why THEY hate us...
It's gross and the opposite of "CIVILIZED"... just because we may have new cars and appliances should not allow us to fool ourselves with our arrogant superiority...
Our country has FAILED. We have FAILED our test at leadership.
I remember the old phrase "People get the leaders they deserve..." (In the past, used condescendingly by Americans when talking about OTHER countries...)Well enough has been said about Damian Thorne, oops, I mean the chimp. But just look at our "leader's" family...They are a bunch of criminal, drug-abusing alcoholics, entitled and out of control... What shame! What white-trash garbage! American aristocracy? Shit, I am ashamed of the garbage over our heads! No class, no intelect, no civic duty, NOTHING. Just priviledge without even the trappings of a contrived grace or integrity... Just shit! GROSS!!!
The Bush curse, the worst ever to hit this country...
~~
Nothing is right about bush's illegal war. Nothing.
-And what it does to those hundreds of thousends we rape, murder and destory so we all can drive our cars.What you do to the least of these?the least of these...Here in New Orleans and to those in Iraqi that we killed through war and through sanctions and through inaction.
-
That's the real voice of the US military.Oh? So the US military personnel involved in the torture and killing of people in custody (most of whom the military itself said were innocent), and the ones posing with dead and mutilated bodies for photos to be traded for porn, are merely pretending to be the real US military?
Sorry, but that dog don't hunt. These are the real voices of at least a part of the US military.
-Actually, I think this has everything to do with what we're teaching our children. Contempt for other cultures, religions, gender orientations, physical or mental disabilities are nurtured and reinforced by parents who watch Fox news and listen to Rush Limbaugh -- and agree with that line of thinking. And discuss at the dinner table... That being said, I agree 100% with the rest of your post; there is no excuse. None.
"These pictures are the reality the solders face everyday. They have to deal with it someway. Human beings blown apart or turned to mush by you, on the orders of your country, is difficult to reconcile with the tales of glory and righteousness you were fed all your life. Tales that led you to believe your cause, our cause, America’s cause is just and noble, worth fighting for, worth dying for. Taking a picture and posting it helps to put a distance between you and the horror, helps to move it away from you, to spread it out, diffuse it.
These solders are victims of the war as much as the bodies in front of which they pose. A piece of their souls has been charred black. They will never be the same. These images will haunt them forever, tell them everyday for the rest of their lives what a lie we live. These images are a message to us all, to tell all America about the
lie we live. A message we need thrust in our faces. This is war; this is what we do, this is what it does to us.
You know Democratic Underground has banned discussion of the Iraqi pics for web porn story. Dunno if it is a word that came down from DLC or what but if more sites keep on repeating this story it is just going to incite people to stop supporting the troops. Not to mention that it just gives the enemy more propaganda.
6. Snip from SF Gate.
"The photographs covered by Thursday's ruling were taken by a soldier. A military policeman who saw them turned them over to the Army. Some may be duplicates of photos already seen by the public."
I think the point of this is to tell us we are going to be shown what we have already seen.
