What about Gore/Clinton (Bill, not Hillary) in 08?
Wouldn't that be the ultimate flip flop?

I kinda like it!

Can a former, two-term President (Oh, it feels so good to write "President" and not "Resident"!) run for veep?

Could they win?

1. Would be great except we can't because of the 12th Amendment:
But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

6. Bummer...
It was a nice fantasy--for about 5 minutes.

Anything but what we have right now--is a dream come true.

2. Well we know it isn't going to be Bush again...

Definitely would be interesting, nothing I know precludes Clinton from running. The amendment only states POTUS.

5. Post 1 is correct. Easy point to miss, though. We've all had that fantasy.

4. No, it can't happen.
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 12:04 AM by Harvey Korman
If something happened to the president in that case, the VP would become the president. So essentially, Clinton would become president for a third term, which is unconstitutional.

Hence the 12th Amendment cited upthread.

8. Yeah, but Gore'll be fine.
:P

Screw the 12th Amendment. The Bush Administration certainly doesn't care about the Constitution.

12. don't get your hopes up
they own the voting machines. as long as diebold and ES&S are there, the republicans are there. they stole 2004 and there is absolutely no reason to think they won't do it again. small inroads are being made on the state level, but diebold and es&s are still counting the majority of the votes in this country. that's secret vote counting my friends.

17. If you believe that
If you believe that "they own the voting machines", then you better swamp them with Democratic votes in 2006 2006 2006 so that you can get Voter Verified Balloting (VVB) for 2008 instead of BBV.

If you can't win 2008 as things stand now, you might be able to if you win 2006 first.

If you can't win 2006 how can you win 2008?

If you can win 2008 you can win 2006.

9. I believe I've been told the answer is no
at least they'd have to skip over him in line if something happened to Gore.

Erm. I don't think that would work, not when one of them used to be prez, and the other isn't exactly a Centrist any more.

10. REMINDER FOLKS: THEY STILL OWN THE VOTING MACHINES
it doesn't matter who the dems throw up there. as long as they own the voting machines you can forget it. that's how they got there and you can't expect them to stop unless they're busted.

we have to dump diebold and crack this thing somehow or our democracy is dead.

having said that, I've personally had it with the Clintons. I love Gore but I'd rather see him pair up with Dean or Conyers. The Clintons are pro-war and they are afraid to stand up and fight and speak the truth.

What does it say about our party if this is our BEST choice?

No, Bill can't run under the 12th and Gore has a network to run

19. I don't either....I don't like her at all...
I believe that the upper echelon Dems and Reps are working in tandem.

I think their commonality is that they have neocon/PNAC tendencies. I don't like what I'm seeing.

Look at how evil, corrupt and malignant the Bush cabal is. Either you see the evil and do something about it--or you're with them. You certainly don't join forces and socialize with them.

I couldn't even be in the same room with W--without breaking down into hysterics and screaming obscenities. Why is it that Hillary is able to schmooze with these animals?

Something really doesn't make sense.

No Hillary for me.
