DeLay won't recover from this
His best chance to even begin to try to clear himself is next year and that will be well into the midterm elections campaign. He's not going to be able to raise cash and help Republican House candidates and that will definately hurt them in the elections.

1. even if he is pardon or the case never makes it to trial, a good amount
of damage has been done to the gop.

2. We need to run a real contender against him.
Why wait for the jury's verdict?

3. But I understand that most of his district is hard right republican and
that he is well loved there and across Texas. Won't they just go out and vote for the party?

6. Too Much Baggage
The party itself will beg DeLay not to run. If he wins, he'll still be convicted of a felony. In fact, he faces a much stiffer sentence if he makes trouble.

Thw question is whether Earle has the goods on him, and of course he does.

4. I'd Agree. He's Toast
I saw the video of the prosecutor making the announcement. No way is Ronnie Earle on a witch hunt. Betcha DeLay pleads guilty to stay out of prison.

5. Even if he is found innocent, the damage is done
Just the indictment alone wounds him. He is an albatross around the GOP's neck.

The more he squeals and does the talk show circuit the more he draws attention to this matter. He is doing himself a disservice by talking so much. He should shut up and take it like a man.

Heh, heh.

7. Please don't be naive. I cannot tell you how many "The pukes are toast"
posts I have read over the years. They own the voting machines, they own the media. They own Congress, the White House, the Courts. Until this fact changes, the pukes will stay in power. This is scarcely a speed bump for them.

Look at the Katrina mess. Rita. Swift boats. My pet goat. Able Danger. Valerie Plame. Iraq lies. Any dem would be dead in the water for any one of these things, and many other things with less ramifications. Spin Spin Spin. The best ballerinas in the world must look on with awe at the way the media, KKKarl, et al spin.

DeLay is being INDICTED on ONE (1) charge. He has not been convicted of anything. I am sure ShrubCo and the other Wingnuts will bail his evil, lying, maniacal ass out of this like always.

10. I agree with you. 'Murcans are more interested in who wins a football
game or some silly-ass flag on their car or some religious- patriotic crap to care that thier country has gone to the dogs.

8. He has said he wants a trial before year end.
'Course, that likely just is rhetoric. We'll see. Don't get your hopes too high. There's quite a distance between indictment and conviction.
