Away from the board awhile -- what happened to Dreier?
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 05:31 PM by DeepModem Mom
Did I miss something? Last I checked, Dreier was taking DeLay's place as majority leader, with a last minute hint he might share duties with Roy Blunt of Missouri. Now it's just Blunt?

ON EDIT: LOL at some of your very clever answers!

6. Raw Story says:
After earlier reporting that Rep. David Dreier (R-CA) was expected to succeed House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) as majority leader, the decision has been reversed. House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) will instead take up DeLay's post.

Sources tell RAW STORY that Dreier -- who was a shoo-in for the position -- was nixed for various reasons, in part because his sexuality would raise ire within the party ranks. He is also out of favor because he is pro-choice.

A second reason cited is that it would have meant that Doc Hastings (R-WA) would have become Rules Chairman in Dreier's place, meaning the Ethics Committee would change hands midstream. This was seen by leadership as a bad move, sources say.

10. Looks Like RS Did the Repukes a Favor
If Dreyer was withdrawn because of this story, seems to me it could have been a lot more fun if they'd waited til it was confirmed and went through.

8. The Freepers freaked out over the Rawstory Gay Dreier report
and the GOP realized that a whole lot of Americans know that he's gay. It was all over in just an hour or so.
