DON'T FORGET Newt resigned to take heat off the repubs.....dems
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 05:13 PM by bobbieinok
might have done better if he'd stayed

Newt was a lightning rod that was drawing attacks on the republicans

.....under Newt the govt was closed down at least once....Clinton didn't back down.......the repubs thought Clinton would get the blame; instead anger was focused on NEWT and the repubs

.....shortly after Newt left there was no longer a repub to focus anger on and the repubs were pretty safe

same thing happened with Buchannon.....he gave an extremely scary RW 'cultural war' speech as the keynote speaker at the repub convention in 92; it made it crystal clear to 'on the fence' people just what rights they thought they had 'forever' would be lost under repub control

.....Buchannon has not been allowed to be the front man for the repubs ever since

MY POINT: sometimes it's good to have a repub leader who's a crook stay in power so that it's clear what the present party leadership stands for

(edit for spelling mistakes I caught)

9. way I remember it, media didn't 'tell all' until AFTER Newt resigned
media NEVER reported this during impeachment hearings

that's the way I remember it......I remember being furious about media knowing this and not revealing it

8. I still say that traitors should be locked in a glass cage
on the back of a truck. They can then do a tour of the Country.

Let everyone see just what happens to crooks. Mandatory viewing for all political science classes and ethics classes.

And yes, I do feel Delay is a traitor. He profits illegally from his position in government.

10. There's a veritable smorgasbord of criminal ...
... and / or "scary" repukes to choose from. Frist, Rove ... I'd mention the Chimp , but he's still revered by the insane 30%.

11. I was under the impression...
.... that Newt was found to be diddling an intern or staffer the same time he was berating Clinton, and that he was allowed to go away quietly if he'd just go away.

Is that not what happened???
