Please email your Senators and Reps in support of the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center. The neocons appear to be using the tragedies of Katrina and Rita to kill one of the best working departments in the US government.

The NWS/NHC are:

* free to the public
* very accurate and reliable. (They were arguably the only reliable Federal Agency during Hurricane Katrina)

1. I have a question

Can you tell me how they're using Katrina and Rita to push this agenda?

I heard about this effort some time ago and figured they'd never do it in light of the hurricane. I recall it's Santorum that led the charge but thought he was pulling back. I guess that was only temporary.

I can't figure how they make a connection to getting rid of the necessary services given that the Gulf is home to oil refineries.
