DC March Mainstream Media Coverage Thread
Edited on Sat Sep-24-05 11:52 AM by Armstead
Thought I'd put this up as a thread for anyone who flicks on the TeeVee for a while and sees any sightings or acknowledgement or recognition of the events in DC today. (That way, we could have a rolling tally, rather than scattered threads.)

Wish I could start by adding something, but everytime I've flipped on the cable news channels, it's Rita,Rita,Rita....

7. We need to try CBS Network News Tonight and maybe CNN Headline...
I didn't expect to see anything with Rita, Rita, Rita.

CBS Nightly has been good lately though. We might get a 2 Minute snip on there..anyway.

8. Good idea. Maybe ought to have been in the Media forum
Without copious posts, it will sink in the GD forum.

9. I saw 10 seconds at the top of the hour on CNN Headline News...
aside from that, zilch. Oh, and the voice over gave equal coverage to the protest and counter protest, although ALL the video was from the anti-war protest.

10. Some European coverage:
EuroNews
A half-hourly news reel, just listed the rally in London as their number two news, with refrences to other rallies including Washington. (Number two, after Rita).

Norwegian state Broadcaster NRK evening news: nothing, but plenty Rita.

Norwegian papers: nothing, but plenty of Rita.

BBC: Good coverage of demos at home, I'm not sure if they've reported on Wash. yet....oh, they have:

The Guardian: In a Rita-frenzy. All Hurricanes today ;-)

12. CNN had a scroll on the screen
I was at the bank between 1:30 and 2:00 ET. They have a TV on CNN (with no sound) on in there. I saw a scroll at the bottom of the screen about the march, but no real info ... just that it was going on.

13. CNN headline News mentioned it briefly
I've been out much of the afternoon, but from what I've been able to seem the news networks areAll Rita All the Time.

I wish the news media knew how to walk and chew gum at the same time.
