Want proof Bush has been hitting the bottle?
http://www.dubyaspeak.com/mp3/community.mp3

Listen, I, I, I wanna to thank, uhh, leaders of the -- in the faith, and uhh -- faith-based and community-based community for being here, we've got people who represent thousands of volunteers who are in the midst of helping save lives.

Community-based community,eh? :wtf:

8. Yeah, in the National Enquirer of all places
but the editor is standing 150% behind their story. I'd love to see blivet** try and sue them. Imagine the stories that would come out then!

26. The link, in case other people missed it.
http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/63426

Faced with the biggest crisis of his political life, President Bush has hit the bottle again, The National Enquirer can reveal.

Bush...started boozing amid the Katrina catastrophe.

Family sources have told how the 59-year-old president was caught by First Lady Laura downing a shot of booze at their family ranch in Crawford, Texas, when he learned of the hurricane disaster.

..."When the levees broke in New Orleans, it apparently made him reach for a shot," said one insider. "He poured himself a Texas-sized shot of straight whiskey and tossed it back...

...A Washington source said: "The sad fact is that he has been sneaking drinks for weeks now...

...George had a drinking problem for years that most professionals would say needed therapy. He doesn't believe in it {therapy}, he never got it. He drank his way through his youth, through college and well into his thirties. Everyone's drinking around him."...

5. proof that Bush is a dumbo is one thing, but avoid alcohol issue
It is politically vulgar and a two-edged sword that can be used where it isn't appropriate against anyone who drinks

Lincoln was once told that Grant (who was winning battles) was drinking, and instructed that a case of whatever Grant was drinking be sent to all the other generals

12. That analogy doesn't hold up
W is no USS Grant. Besides, W has access to atomic weapons. So, if he's drinking I want to know.

28. Winston Churchill spent World War II drunk on his ass
but was magnificently functional and effective. The novelist and thinker C.P. Snow once wrote that Churchill was no alcoholic, for no alcoholic could drink that much. Churchill spent his entire day drinking, in the morning, at lunch with an assortment of brandies and liqueurs, and throughout the rest of the day. He is the image of the completely functional and capable alcoholic. He said that you could float a small battleship in the amount of Cognac that he had drunk during his lifetime.

Maybe Bush should completely go back to heavy drinking instead of being a dry drunk who occasionally goes off the wagon. Maybe he would function better. Of course he could never be a Churchill, as he lacks the brains, the vision, and the internal fortitude. But let's say that Bush couldn't function any worse than he already has.

16. No, this is different
Dubya sold himself as a redeemed sinner who crawled out of the bottle by his own two-fisted determination and a helping hand from Jesus. It's not politically vulgar to note that he's drinking... on the job. If it weren't for his ballyhooed redemption, few would begrudge him a couple of drinks at the end of the day.

25. I would. It's not about his redemption. He's an alcoholic.
He doesn't know when to stop. And he hasn't been through the therapy and rehab to get to his core issues and see himself for who he is, in all his human failings, instead of seeing himself as God's commander.

17. The difference being that Grant was winning something.
What has drinking ever caused Bush to win? Or even almost win? He's fucked up everything he's ever touched in his miserable life.

9. It's been so obvious from the first day he tripped over his
tongue years ago. What took everyone so long to figure it out? In the early days of DU, I had the nerve to suggest that he was still drinking. Oh, no, he's a dry drunk, they said. How dare you suggest he is still drinking? Oh, well a little experience as a bartender kinda told me, however, what do I know?

Clinton once winged 6 minutes of a State of the Union while the wrong speech scrolled on his teleprompter. I would loooove to see Dubya in the same situation.
