Chaplain Commands Satan Out of NO: "Soldiers bring the word of God"
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 05:56 PM by Rose Siding
In the video at the link, he says:

"This is indeed a dark city and we're bringing the light. You know, where ever the soldiers go, there goes the word of God"

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, members of the U.S. military are saying that there's something spooky going on and it's not just images of death and destruction that's haunting them.

By all accounts, the Sophie B. Wright Middle School in New Orleans sits empty and evacuated except for military personnel who have taken over the campus as a staging site for missions around the battered city.

But the men in uniform have the feeling that they're not alone. It prompted a chaplain to utter this directive: "In the name of Jesus Chris, I command you Satan to leave the dark areas of this building."

1. It's official: we're fucked.
Taxpayer funds have now paid for an exorcism. The Founding Fathers are spinning straight out of their graves and into oblivion.

2. Why is it so hard for them to keep them separate?
I have no problem with a Chaplain who ministers to soldiers in a way that is comforting to them. But this implication that soldiers are there to impart religion is whack.

23. They don't believe they should be separate.
It's not in their world view. God rules all, in their mind, including government.

21. No kidding- I'll be up all night
:D Welcome to DU, LibFromWV. I was born there :hi:

That guy is out of control. Mind you, I'm not bothered by however he wants to practice his religion, but when someone in a US uniform goes on TV and implies that our soldiers are bringing a religion with them, that's just plain unconstitutional.

4. What was spooky were the words spoken by that soldier...
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 06:03 PM by Ojai Person
that was the scariest thing I heard:

soldiers = word of God

New Orleans has always been a place of spirits. Now it has got to be just teeming with the unquiet dead.

There were reports of rescue workers being haunted by the ghosts of tsunami victims too.

17. I KNEW I'd seen him before. Look what I found on his bio...

Ya know, it'd be a heck of a lot less dark in that city if he'd just open his damned eyes. Duh. Some people...

9. That's a bit of a mis-statement
Actually, we came over here to start our own religious persecutions ... and it seems to be working beyond our wildest dreams!

11. Apparently not
There seem to be those who think our ancestors crossed the Atlantic so THEY could be the persecutors.

13. And they're doing a jolly good job of it!
I'm sure their persecutors hundreds of years ago would be pleased.

27. Have you noticed all the talk of persecution from people who....
are trying to bend the world to their own narrow, 3rd century "Judeo-Christian" POV?

Maybe the Puritans were actually RUN out of European countries on a rail, so to speak.

31. Kindof...
IIRC, the Puritans left because the Anglicans (Church of England) thought they were a bit harsh and tried to shut them down.

They settled in Massachusets and after a period of witch burning and other repressive things (Scarlet letters, etc.) they finally settled down and became the bastion of liberal thought that Mass is today.

8. Sorry, Chaplain, that was just God's anger at George Bush and his
supporters. The Divine One can't believe anyone could be so stupid as to still defend W, and the anger is palpable.

10. It is terrible that liberal chaplains are fast becoming a thing of
the past and that fundagelicals are growing in number in the military.

I hope liberal churches can convince some of their clergy to enlist. The military needs de-evangelizing.

And if that chucklehead thinks he did *anything* to the "spirits", he's out of his head...but then ain't that obvious?

I wonder if Marie Laveau is somewhere laughing her butt off.
