"Won't you get in the way Mr. President?"
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 12:43 PM by Armstead
David Abrahams of NBC asking Bush why he is going to Texas.

"Is this overcompensation?"

Let's hope they keep their dander up over this sham show of being "on top" of the hurricane, in an effort to rehabilitate his image.

3. David Gregory asked that. Wow. Good for him.
And Daryn Kagan looked pissed about the exchange after the video was shown on CNN just now.

Bush was at FEMA. Gregory shouted the question as Bush was turning away, and Bush whirled around and insisted he will NOT be in the way.

49. Which is all he really cares about at the end of the day.
He needs his 'image' to push the rest of his evil agenda through, i.e. making himself and his base (the have and have mores) richer at the expense of the little people, i.e. real Americans.

42. Yep. Good for David Gregory for being a real professional
and bringing up this issue.

A presidential visit is a huge undertaking and consumes manpower that could be put to better use at a time like this.

It was a selfish, dangerous move when lives are at stake. The Bush Administration is...well, a lot of things. Few of them are good.

David Gregory deserves respect.

She was gone from CNN for a few days recently and I had high hopes that she had follwed her good buddy Bill to Faux.
Alas, she is back. She and Kyra probably share 'sexy dreams' about Bushie over lunch.

I swore off MSM along about last September....but, these tragedies have me watching again....hard to stomach these people -still.

I can tell you that when a Council person shows up at a Fire Scene (where one Captain is diverted from fire fighting to escort the dude around) or in a Red Cross shelter (with aide, one or two media people, satellite truck) - the politician gets in the way.

Multiply that N-fold foe secret service, advance people, media people, satellite truckS, people who want to be "seen with the President", all manner of local political hangers on, and the usual screening --- and Bush and his entourage will get in the way.

He was freaky bad. When he started to walk away and the reporter yelled out "Why are you going there? Won't you be in the way?" .. he whirled around and I thought he was gonna tackle the reporter. But he just smiled weirdly and said "I'm not going to be in the way." It was more surreal than normal.

Yeah, so I guess having photo ops at Northcom DURING a Hurricane when you could go there 364 other days of the year to tour their emergency facilities is NOT GETTING IN THE WAY.

43. David Gregory's question apparently has had an effect.
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 02:55 PM by Kurovski
The White House has changed its plans, and will be shunting George off to Colorado instead of interfering in Texas at such a critical time.

It was just reported during Shepard Smith's broadcast.

EDIT:It's very troubling that it took a reporter's question to get the administration to do the common sense thing. Their focus is so directed at making the Bush administration look good that they've left hold of their senses.

I guess that could be considered incompetence as well.

This whole friggin' administration has NO CLUE what they were put there for! We're paying a 5th year, 2nd term president, to go around and learn how the agencies interface with each other.

Way too little, way too late.
