1. "natural disasters are acts of God"
"national disasters are not acts of God, they are things we can do something about".

Well put.

2. Oh, everyone should see this!
I saw some of it last night. Thank you for the heads-up. I was looking on the C-Span site, but didn't see any mention of it.

9. Harry Belafonte kicking ASS!
In re: the "wreckage" of the Democratic party, "the question is, is there anything worth salvaging".

Wow.

10. Obama giving Belafonte props
I wish I had the transcript of Belafonte's remarks. He was eloquent, angry and... I don't know... perfect.

11. Harry Belafonte........
How eloquent is he? I was moved almost to tears to hear him ask if there was anything worth salvaging in the Democratic Party. We need to hear more from him. He is so right. The democratic party needs to do more than just give lip service to its base. We need to see action.

I was so torn I couldn't hear all his remarks... I hope we can replay his speech and subsequent answers. He certainly made a big impression on the CBC because they referred to his particular points he made.

13. "If you begin with a faulty premise,...."
no matter how sound or how complex your logic and rationale, you will inevitably reach a flawed conclusion"

I tried to find the quote, this is what google yields, though it may not be what Belafonte said exactly.

You get the point, logic would dictate that the war can never have a successful conclusion.

I do believe that the hidden premise of establishing military bases and putting money in private contractors pockets is and will be ultimately sucessful, but that was not the reason given to the American people, and the faulty premise given to us practically guarantees our failure (if we were ever given an actual measurement of what success is deemed as) because the Iraqi people and the people of the Middle East can see the "faulty premise" and will not move in the "direction" we want them to.
