15-minutes until the polls open in California
California DUers please keep us up to date if possible on turnout. If we can get massive numbers of Latinos, African-Americans, seniors, women, and union members to the polls we can win this thing.

Good Luck Gov. Davis.

2. I'm not given to praying, but pray the progressives GOTV
If the freepers and "wouldn't Governor Terminator be cool?" types show up at the polls in force and outnumber the "no recall, yes Bustamante" voters, we're screwed.

If the "yes recall, yes Bustamante" element (there have to be some) people prevail, that's bad too--it will prove they can get away with overthrowing elections, even though they didn't get the puppet they wanted.

Best result: no recall. Davis was lawfully elected.

Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 09:19 AM by rocknation

I'm certain that there are enough Californians who realize that they're not going to solve their problems with an abusive, sociopathic, power-mad political shill of a neyophyte. All they have to do is turn up at the polls.

5. Pray, chant, sing songs...whatever!
Visualize a failed recall!

Drag a friend to the polls, then do it again! Wear an "I Voted" sticker, and remind liberals and progressive to vote.

Tell conservatives the elections was yesterday and Arnold won-didn't they hear? (lol-ok, maybe not)

Ask God, in whatever form you believe he/she takes, to throw out a little miracle, and not let this happen.

Good luck all!

7. Drive people to the polls if they can't get there on their own!
Every election day I tell the story of how I drove my brother-in-law to the polls in 1992 and his one vote, with five others in the district, decided the majority of our state senate. It's true!

Without his vote and five others, the Repuke would have won, giving the R's a 51-49 majority. But the Dem candidate won by SIX VOTES, resulting in a 50-50 split. And I think they worked it out where one party would have the president of the senate one week, and the other party the next. A big difference from the Repugs having the majority outright!

What a difference a single vote can make!

8. I offer up Blimpo Lardass as a sacrifice!
Being from America's penis South FloriDUH, I know ALL ABOUT ELECTION RIGGING/STEALING first hand.

If they get away with this one, I pity the border check people on the US/Canada border, cuz they are going to have their hands full due to the mass exodus of Americans fleeing for politcal assylum!!!!!!!!!

PS Gee, that Rush the Junkie story came and went pretty fast huh? Some LIBERAL MEDIA.

9. I heard they expect 70-90% of all eligible voters........
and I think there are only 30% of the polls open.

It is going to be a confusing day in California, and no doubt many, many disenfranchised voters.

14. Poll location info from MoveOn.org...
Just got this in an e-mail from MoveOn:

Dear MoveOn member,
Right now there's something you can do to help get out the vote in the recall election and stop Arnold Schwarzenegger from hijacking our largest state. This is a very close race and every single vote is needed. But for many voters, just finding their polling place will be a hassle as many usual polling places around the state are closed today.

Your California friends can look up where to vote by going here:

http://moveon.org/pac/recall/materials.html

Forward this email so that your friends can use the lookup form. Better yet, give a few friends a call to make sure they know where to vote. And let them know how much we're all counting on them to keep Arnold Schwarzenegger's unqualified hands off of the 5th largest economy in the world.

If you're reading this email early enough, you can catch your friends before they leave the house for work. Give them a call and tell them where to stop on the way. The online lookup forms for many areas even provide maps. You, or your friends, can access look up sites for anywhere just by going here:

http://moveon.org/pac/recall/materials.html

Take this quick action today, and you'll be very glad you did when the results come in tonight. 1.4 million people outside of California are receiving this email. There's no question, that if enough of us take this one simple action that we could be changing the outcome of this incredibly close election.

Thank you,

-- Carrie, Eli, James, Joan, Noah, Peter, Wes, and Zack

10. Here from Calfornia!
My hubby has already voted No on the Recall, and will be doing so very soon. News coverage here in CA will begin around 5:00 pm pacific time, but results will not be released until after 8:00 pm pacific. Those east of me have a late night ahead of them, as do I.

11. Polling places were VERY busy this morning
I got there at 7:05 am and there was already a line. One polling place covering two precincts. One of our local news anchors was there (off-duty) and I KNOW for a fact she's voting against the recall.

Now, no more shit about "stupid Californians." NOTHING BUT POSITIVE VIBES .....

OOOOHHHHMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

12. Roger that
My polling place was in the auditorium of an elementary school. Normally it's a residential home closer to where I live. The school was crawling with voters at 7:20 AM.

13. Voted at 7:00am....
Surprisingly (not!) I was the only on there at that ungodly hour.

I was thrilled to see that of the five poll workers that were there, four of them were young students! That is the first time I've seen that at my polling location.

Anyway, will keep on eye out on the action and report any good news.

15. Polling place in a Catholic Church
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 10:44 AM by mgdecombe
I'm a little put off by that one, and I *do* consider the church bulletin a piece of political literature, all within the heart of the polling place, but be that as it may...

The place was hopping, the poll workers were mostly on the ball, and despite it being busy, it was a 5-minute deal from start to finish.

Optical scanning machines, so you fill in your answers with a felt-tip pen and then they go into a ballot box (with cumbersome but ok auto-feeding into the box), and then, out you go. No "I voted" stickers.

I'm not sure, but the crowd looked pretty Dem to me.

Crossing my fingers and toes...

Edit: spelling
