Perhaps THIS is why the Schwarzengroper scandal/recall bugs me:
If the recall goes down, it seems it will be because our side was able to scream PERVERT/BULLY/PIG at Arnold; not because the recall is wrong-headed and unjust, which it is. Not because Arnold is a poseur, which he is.

I want the recall to fail, I want Davis to remain in office. But I hate that we have been reduced to relying on groper/smear/Rove-ian techniques to make that possible. Their success in moving the polls only highlight how generally impervious the public is to policy issues or fairness, or REAL scandals like the Enron/power market manipulation that goosed prices and did a lot to put Davis in jeopardy.

I also realize we have to live in the real political world, where Republicans will do anything necessary to achieve power and drive their agenda. To succeed against them, we have to fight dirty too.

If the recall fails, California will be better off...but it will be a few days before I feel good in the morning about how we got there.

1. Smear tactics? What Arnold did was *criminal* in the state of California.
I will NOT allow the Democratic Party to be a political Party that is soft on criminal molestors. And, I hope that Gov. Davis and the California Democratic Party show the whole country that the Democratic Party is NOT soft on criminal molestors.

I deleted it now, but my post had the exact same message as post no.4 . I don't know why you're chastising me.

8. No it didn't.
You made some ridiculous comment about posts being pulled when they say the Dems are running a dirty campaign.

FYI, again, the Dems do not decide what the LA Times et al run in their publications, as much as the opposite world repuke paranoids would like to think they do.

4. In a perfect world
...the news media would never have ignored the role of Ken Lay & Enron Republicans in shafting Cailfornians out of BILLIONS of dollars and the recall itself would never have come to this point. I completely agree with you, it's utterly maddening that instead of talking about actual ISSUES, the media has instead fallen all over themselves to promote Schwarzeneggar's candidacy, based solely on his celebrity status.

Such being the case, however, I'll take a win for our side any way we can get it, short of Florida-style shennanigans.

11. If the economy hadn't turned South so quickly,
and the energy thieves hadn't colluded to steal California money, would Davis be in the hot seat now?

We need better leaders in the party. People are going to have to start standing up and demanding this. Get involved in the process.

13. Arnold waited until the last minute...
for that very reason...When he announced on the Jay Leno show a few weeks ago, there hasn't been a lot of time for stories to get out. That was his plan!
