"...FEMA was a lot better when it was private..."
I participate on another board whose focus is entirely outside the realm of politics. In fact, discussions related to politics or religion are prohibited and strongly discouraged. That doesn't stop the Freepers or the Faux News watchers though from chiming in with their completely uninformed BS. Suffice it to say, I tend to ignore their advice when I post there with a issue I'm having in my private life. Katrina and the aftermath was one of those rare occasions when members posted about their feelings about Bush and FEMA's response. The Shrub voters were initially quite ferocious about defending Der Failure, but have been very quiet lately.

Today one of the members in a state affected by Katrina was complaining about how she's been unable to contact FEMA. This little gem of a quote was the respnse from another member who felt that "...Fema was a lot better when it was private..." Huh? I considered posting a response with a brief history of FEMA when another member beat me to it. The response listed how well FEMA did under Clinton and how its fortunes have been plundered since * took office. No response from the Bush supporters.

1. Ya think?
The word "Federal" in FEMA might have tipped someone off that maybe it's a FEDERAL agency, and not a private concern?

These are the people who voted for that little ratbastard, and they'll go to their idiot graves believing his lies.

And their votes count the same as mine. I don't think that's fair.

5. The predecessor agency was the...
Federal Preparedness Agency. That's another big clue.

2. Just goes to show how uninformed Bush supporters are.
The majority of them don't know what the hell they're talking about. They spew off their unsubstantiated, ill-informed drivel... and when someone presents actual facts, they either become silent or go off on some strawman tangent.

6. If I could name a ranch after Bush supporters, I'd call it Double D's
which would stand for Dubya's Dumbasses. Yee-haw.

3. I read a blog - Leiter Reports - awhile back....
Noting how quick they responded last year to hurricanes hitting Florida; compared to lack of action this year.

"...And notwithstanding the fact that Brown, in particular, had no disaster management experience, he presided over FEMA when it responded with great speed and effectiveness as multiple hurricanes hit Florida...
...Similarly, aid agencies at both local and federal levels were able to efficiently coordinate in Florida. Why didn't they get off their asses and do so in response to Katrina?..."

8. A year later Parts of Gulf Shores Still Have Not Recovered From Ivan
I don't know why FEMA got such high marks. I think it was more drivel passed on by the liberal media. Did anybody bother to check? Judging from the response to Katrina, FEMA failed abysmally.
