My nephew's Guard Unit has been sent home - sort of.
He was in Gulfport for about two weeks. He is now back at his base in Georgia but can't go home yet. They are quarantined for medical testing. One of the guys has dysentary -- my nephew said the guy brushed his teeth with tap water.

I hope he'll be home to his wife and little girl in a few days!

3. Oh I hope they do get to go home and not overseas. Really scary
about his buddy. He shoulda known not to use the tap water, though, and I am shuddering to think about what all is in it these days.

5. I was surprised to hear the buddy was so careless.
Bill is very careful, thankfully. But who knows what he was breathing when he was deployed?

4. I hope so too. Georgia National Guard?
Yikes, I did that too. I guess I would know by now...

Tell him thanks for coming. While some worry about the militarization of the hurricane area, I was thankful to see the guard guys show up. Most that I talked to were good caring people who helped out keeping life moving down there. From the debris removers to the traffic assistance, it helped open things up.

Tell him his help was appreciated and I hope he gets to go home to his family real soon.

6. Thank you!
His job was looking for people in medical distress, providing first aid, and distributing food and water.
