Evacuee: "Because he ignored Louisiana, I ignored his speech,"
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/091605dnmetkatbushwatch.1d0dde93.html

As the president vowed to rebuild broken lives and a broken city, Diane Carey didn't want to hear any of it.

"Because he ignored Louisiana, I ignored his speech," the 65-year-old said from a sea of cots at Reunion Arena. "I lost everything – my life savings, car, house – and they didn't do anything and it's not fair." Ms. Carey wasn't alone in her reaction at the Reunion shelter where President Bush's address played on two big screens.

During the speech, Dallas Mayor Laura Miller worked the floor trying to find help for evacuees. "I've got work to do, and people are watching propaganda," she said afterward.

During the address, 8-year-old Dione Smith recalled a recurring nightmare he has. In it, he's driven to another state where he falls in the water, can't swim and drowns. "I think he did wrong," he said of Mr. Bush.

1. "I think he did wrong,"
From that little one's mouth to God's ear.

2. These people need to be rallied for the cause...
preferably for impeachment, imprisonment, etc. They are mighty in numbers, sadly, no amount of Kool-Aid is going to effect them, and it could only be a cathartic and therapeutic experience for them to unite in an effort that would save lives all around the world.

Evacuees in Houston response to the speech:

A few dozen refugees who watched President Bush's speech to the nation about Hurricane Katrina Thursday said they felt slighted because he never visited the shelter where they're staying and by his administration's slow response to the hurricane's devastation.

Melissa Washington, 28, and Samuel Lewis, 31, were among those who had a string of profanities to describe their feelings about what Bush had to say, which they and others summed up as empty promises.

"He had no intention of coming to help us. He should have been there 24 hours after. That was a national disaster — an entire city!" Lewis said. "He is telling me he is going to rebuild my city. Still, when I go back home, you are going to rebuild my city, but what about all the stuff I lost? What about jobs?"

"I really thought he was going to say something beneficial, something for us to look forward to," she said. "It's the same thing we've been reading in the paper. Every politician makes promises and the promises are never kept."

5. Thanks for posting that alternate view of how the evacuees were feeling
in Houston. Don't know if you watched the interview on ABC last night, but they managed to round up the seven * apologists in the crowd of thousands and had them all stating how * was just swell. It was painful to watch.

"If I didn't know any better, I would think that's Bill Clinton up there," he said, looking up at the big screen.

I don't know whether to use this: :wtf:

or this:

11. Truer words. . .
Dallas Mayor Laura Miller - "I've got work to do, and people are watching propaganda"

Stop the propaganda, silence the media whores, bring the troops home, and impeach this vile administration.

any time soon...funny, with the majority of survivors being in Houston and Dallas, chimp has yet to swing by these 2 cities. Guess one of his cronies must have scoped the places out and found some angry evacuees and city politicians.

There is no love loss between the feds and the local officials...the feds had said 25 buses of survivors would be sent to Dallas, by midnight that night there were 50 buses here, by 6 am the next day there were 150 buses. And FEMA officials reportedly never told Dallas mayor that the city was even getting any evacuees, she found out thru some state level people.

Between the stories of good Texans at Camp Casey and the amazing stories of how your state is trying to do the right thing by the evacuees - I am startin' to warm up to y'all.

:hi:
