US: Halliburton Subsidiary, KBR, Clinches More Hurricane Recovery Work

Kellogg Brown & Root Services Inc. in Arlington, VA received $15 million for Task Order 0020 under its $500 million maximum "emergency response" contract with the US government.

Task Order 0020 is a cost reimbursement, indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity construction capabilities contract for post-Katrina recovery efforts in support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for "unwatering activities" in Plaquemines, East and West basins, New Orleans, LA.

The work to be performed provides for immediate disaster recovery response to repair pumps (many of which were poorly designed for the conditions they faced) and restore utilities to efficiently and rapidly remove water from these areas. Work will be performed in New Orleans, LA, and is expected to be complete by November 2005.

"George Bush stood before the nation tonight and in an attempt to repair his tarnished image, unveiled the most massive reconstruction program since - maybe the reconstruction. 7. Dem fat cats in Congress get lobbied too...

There's a LOT of cheap talk from well-embedded Dem Congress folk but they meet with a lot of the same lobbyists, go on many of the same vacations with lobbyists and feed from the same trough as many in the GOP.

I could list on two hands the number of Dems REALLY worth keeping (many of them discussed frequently here).

The rest give good speech, but let this crap happen again and again and again without REALLY taking a stand.

I could list a number of Dems who have called for investigations and/or pitched a fit about the corporate cronyism and for changes in the reconstruction in Iraq. If it isn't precluded with "bush sucks", some people can't hear it.

The work to be performed includes the re-roofing of most buildings, barracks, debris removal from the entire base, water mitigation, mold mitigation, interior and exterior repairs to most buildings, waste treatment plants, and all incidental related work. Work will be performed in Pascagoula, Miss.; Gulfport, Miss.; and other Navy installations in the Southeast Region, and is expected to be completed by September 2007

9. Instead of giving the contracts to one or two big companies

wouldn't it be better to give these jobs to a greater number of smaller comapanies.

Wouldn't that stimulate the economy more.

Sure, they may not have all the resources or infrastructure that Haliburton has at the moment but I am sure they would do just fine.

Plus, didn't ole' GW say something about giving jobs to repair the area to the locals.
