Does anyone believe that MSM might no longer let
* get away with so much after what their anchors experience in NO (i.e. Williams, Anderson, et al) or Oprah and others alike???

Do you expect a change there????

Dealing with a friend's insistence that MSM is now awake...

7. Some will, but some will continue because either
they have grown a spine, or found their numbers improved when they gave bush a good reaming.

3. I've been holding my breath, waiting each day
to see if they've gone back to pandering to him again. Of course, there are some that have never stopped - but I'm really surprised that the media has pounded at him this long.

I'm hoping they keep on. Please, let them keep on!

11. Anderson Cooper and Aaron Brown sound like they don't
intend to go back. Cooper, in particular, has all the born-again truth-teller qualities about him, so he probably won't. In his case, I think it actually goes back to Sheehan. I had a sense even back then that he was deeply ashamed of what CNN wanted him to do there while his heart was with her and others at Camp Casey. Also remember that we are dealing with an unpopular president now so it's easy to criticize him since the majority of your audience is on your side. It works for us, of course, because critical media prevents numbers from going up (unless people start thinking that they are beating up on him too much and there is always that chance -- it did save Clinton during the Lewinsky crap by provoking people's sympathy for him because of all the press, but I do think it was a different matter and hope it's not applicable here since people are upset at B. on all fronts, not just Katrina).

4. I hope so, but from what I've heard tonight
concerning the coverage of the speech, I am concerned. Russert told like it is, but reports on Matthews and Koppel have me concerned. FDR? LBJ? I don't think so. It was typical GWB at best. I mean, what does it take to read a teleprompter?

13. Why would Koppel have you concerned? Did you watch the
8-9 show, Chertoff got nailed and Nightline was a kicking too! Please see the threads on this. Now, Jimmy Kimmel is having Sharpton on. Where is the free pass, please explain?

but AFTER I posted this. As I mentioned, my comments were based on what others here have reported.

12. Actually, that's what I meant - his old self is "Bushy"
The facts of the situation in NO briefly intruded into his dreamlike Bushworld citizenship, but he's gotten a new stamp on his visa and he is now flogging the party line like the good apparatchik that he is.

I almost fell over when he said that Shrub even spends more than Bill Clinton! He's a spender, alright.

Peace.

9. It depends on who is doing the 'reporting'
I wouldn't count on Leslie Blitzer, Paula Zahn, Tweety, or Kyra Whatever to give a true accounting of anything concerning Junior or his thugs. They're stenographers for the WH. Don't even get me started on Faux 'News'. The only exception there being - maybe - Shepard Smith.

15. Fox polled Bush approval at 41%
First time ever, lowest ever.

I don't know if the MSM will ever be "awake" as your friend puts it, but the monstrous reality of Bush is becoming an overwhelming job for his media sycophants to hide.

16. Be vewwy vewwwy careful of responding to posts
which are associated with a previous advocation of "confrontation" versus protest on the 24th and which have baited re: Dem leadership.

Just saying.

17. blonndee, don't misinterpret a post to incite
there wasn't any advocation of confrontation. I grew up under two dictatorships...do you know what that means? and never advocated for anything, but peace...and will do that until I die...

Edited to add: thread in question was from 9/14 or 9/15, OP saying protest not enough, need to "confront" "in the streets." Just wondering, never got a response as to what "confront" meant. I don't yet have a star since I'm mostly broke, so I can't search and the "my posts" function has been limited lately.

I'm not accusing, just wondering.
