Do I have it Right? - George Bush let you sit on a roof for four days
you lost your grip on your wife and she slipped through your fingers into the murky waters, you waded through chest high waters to the Convention Center where you were starved and dehydrated so you stole a Slim Jim from the 7/11 which disqualified you for humanitarian aid like water and food so you hiked over the Crescent City Bridge where you were turned back by the Gretna Sheriffs. You finally got bundled on a bus to the Astrodome. George Bush will now give you 5 grand to forget the whole thing and let you enter a lottery to win a house and will also allow you to work for less than the prevailing wage in rebuilding the home you lost because he let the levees break.

What a deal!

6. PLUS, w wants more federal authority so that
if anything like this happens again, you'll have to sit on your roof for 8 days, or perhaps even 12 days or maybe 28 days if it happens at the BEGINNING of w's vacation instead of the middle or end.

8. Crictical thinkers? Help me out - isn't this Bush's plan in a nutshell?
I think it's just another scam perpetuated upon the American people and will once again enrich the connected at the expense of the unconnected. Am I being too cynical?

12. Just going from memory
Is it the house they win or a plot of land and THEN they can get a mortgage or have some charity help them build a house. I wandered away at some point after he said they could get the land. I wondered if he knew what a house cost in relation to their income. I didn't hear any property tax relief either. Seemed like stupid, empty words.

But maybe when I was in the other room he added the house and lower property tax into the lottery.

I wondered if those on SSI or who need to get some welfare help now...does the money they get in this deal count against those benefits like they usually do or is that waved.

I think of the money the victims of 9/11 got. They were attacked by an enemy, went through terror.
These people went through the days of terror and these horrible conditions and loss of every basic need in conditions we can't keep an animal in legally. They were treated like an enemy and not helped.

We owe them BIG BIG money And BUG TRUE answers.

9. Sad to say, but it's a suckers deal and * knows it.
He's dealing with desperate people and just like the slimy salesman he is he WILL get the better end of the deal. There will be very very very few houses in that "lottery".

Make NO mistake about that! :puke:

I'm sure everyone feels relieved to know that Karl is in charge now. He'll make things "right as rain" and won't show any partiality to certain people or groups.

19. No, UP TO $5,000. Not eveyone will get five grand.
This is exactly like the debit card deal. The "up to" is getting lost in the shuffle.

For one person it's probably a lot less than that.

23. Meanwhile, the families of Sept. 11 victims got in the range of $1 million
each (even though a fair number of them were rich to begin with and had huge insurance policies, investments, etc.)
