Victory for leader who promised higher taxes
By Anthony Browne
THE UN has just crowned it the best place to live in the world for the fifth year in a row. But now Norway has voted out the Government in favour of an alliance committed to spending more of the kingdom’s fabulous oil wealth on welfare and public services.

Jens Stoltenberg, the Labour Party leader, became Prime Minister after his alliance won more than half the seats in the parliament. Asked what his priorities would be, he declared: “Jobs, schools and care for the elderly.”

only two more paragraphs in the story http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,13509-1779029,00.html
but this quote should give some here in the states pause....

"He beat Kjell Magne Bondevik, the Conservative leader, who when asked why people voted out his right-wing tax-cutting alliance, said: “We don’t have a good answer.”

At least some "conservatives" can be honest... who would have thunk-it. *grin.

1. Now let's see if they remain
the best place in the world to live.

Which may be why Bondevik said “We don’t have a good answer.”
