Now that he's been exposed, the only way Chimpy can don his "strong leader" cloak again is to be shown as a take charge, kick ass kinda guy during a national emergency - read terror attack.

This has me concerned.

Tin foil aside - Katrina has made MIHOP/LIHOP a real possibility. Chimp policy even.

3. Originally an insult to the Irish
suggesting that they would cheat and get a do over if they could get away with it. Sure and begorrah, those lazy shiftless Irish!! I always thought the Irish should call it a WINDSOR at Irish golf clubs, seeing as the Royals always screw up and are allowed to continue on as though nothing ever happened....

6. I hate to sound stupid

8. Yep, as far as I understand it it means not paying up and is a slur
against the Welsh.

13. As an American, I hate how "yank" also refers to masterbating
I consider that a slur, too.

7. There are so many insults that eventually find their way into common use
that people forget the origins....dutch treat, e.g.

People simply do not THINK about it, or they are geographically challenged, or they figure, aww, they won't mind, they know we don't MEAN it...

But for people with any sort of ancestral pride or bond, it can be hurtful...

9. All right, you got me. I had no idea Dutch treat was bad, though I had
heard of dutch courage (to swig a drink before doing something hard)

2. Let us hope that everyone can see this obvious strategy ploy, and
therefore make it something they won't be able to try.

11. Not an insult
Wikipedia sez:

There are many theories about the origin of the term. The United States Golf Association (USGA) cites three different stories explaining that the term derived from the name of a Canadian golfer, David Mulligan, who played at St. Lambert in Montreal during the 1920s. One version has it that one day after hitting a poor tee shot, Mr. Mulligan re-teed and shot again. He called it a "correction shot," but his friends thought it more fitting to name the practice after him. A second version has the extra shot given to Mulligan due to his being jumpy and shaky after a difficult drive to the course. The final version of the David Mulligan story gives him an extra shot after having overslept, rushing to get ready to make the tee time.
