Isn't it "special" how the ones who BUNGLED the war and the disaster
are the VERY ones who are so eager to tell us when it's "ok" to start questioning both or either?

Rice says:

We shouldn't be questioning things about the war right now...we should be working on getting the NATURAL DISASTER taken care of right now..

and We shouldn't be pointing fingers just now.. The pr esident will be heading up an investigation ....later..

The hubris is staggering.. The people who have the "answers" will now determine who can ask the questions, when they can ask,and even what the questions shall be..:puke:

I so wanted tavis Smiley to step up and let her have it.. Tavis disappointed me .. he let her ramble on qwith all the "points", and then let her off the hook.. I wanted him to ask her about the shoe-shopping trip..the Broadway comedy...the cake-eating by her boss

3. Urgent! Senate committee wants Katrina input - deadline TODAY 9/11
SoCalDem, you should provide input for this:

The Senate H.E.L.P. Committee (Health, Education, Labor and Pensions) has been requesting input on Katrina reconstruction. The deadline was changed from Friday 9/9 to Monday, 9/12 (but presume 9/11, by the end of today) to allow more input. I don't know if DUers are aware of this. It's a great opportunity to help influence the treatment of survivors and the fate of the Gulf coast.

The email for public input is listed below. These emails are going to start being reviewed by committee staff tomorrow (Mon, 9/12). I heard about this on a CNN radio rebroadcast of the Senate H.E.L.P. Committee roundtable (of disaster experts) on 9/8, but could not get this posted until now.

Email: katrina_comments@help.senate.gov
Senate H.E.L.P. website: http://help.senate.gov /
(The ranking Democrat is Sen. Edward Kennedy.)

My input to the committee is at:

6. what I can't figure out is.........
why can't they do 2 things at one time? After all, the people who are in charge of rescue and recovery, that is their job!! They are not in the position to investigate what happened anyway so why can't there be an investigation at the same time as the recovery work is ongoing?

These people act like their feeble minds can only grasp one concept at once........

7. Like telling a cop...
"Yes officer, a red light was run, a crash ensued, people died, there might be alcohol involved, but there will be plenty of time later to investigate... right now I am too busy planning the dinner menu".ta-tah":)

11. Didn't Rove say that nobody was to think about past events or the
future things (what it means) but just concentrate on the help that was arriving last Sunday?

I think he did.

13. No - Rove wanted everyone to think "now" because it was Saturday
and the cavalry was arriving. He didn't want us thinking about past things (flood & people abandoned as spiraling & predictable lawlessness took place) or the future (where we would think about the meaning of "flood & people abandoned as spiraling & predictable lawlessness took place".

He didn't want people to think. Until he had some good events to report on.

How many of his followers followed those orders?
