"Dumb" is a Freepers Favorite Excuse
And it couldn't be any more obvious (in Chandler voice) how much of a pure projection the label "dumb" is!

My right wing pigdog ex-brother loved to call me "dumb". He did it up until last week when I told him he was a mentally ill, psycho, racist pig and I wouldn't ever speak to him again. He started the "dumb" drum beating twelve years ago.

In fact, he owns an ice cream shop, lives out of a trailer, and spends most of his days serving ice cream to people he hates, employing kids he hates even more. While I, his "dumb" little sister, graduated from college, worked my way up the totem pole and now make more than he ever will. But he still loved to tell me how "dumb" I was for caring about poor people, or underprivileged people, or black people.

He, like the freeps quoted in recent messages posted, spent a lot of time detailing the "dumb" decisions New Orleans residents made. Now, like many of the other freeps, he'd go party and let the "dumb" black people serve him, give him taxi rides, etc. down in the Big Easy. But now that he got liquored up, had his fun and left, they're "dumb" to have stayed there.

Why is "dumb" the best they can do? Same with "blame game". If they're so much smarter than us, or so much smarter than the people of New Orleans, why are they limited, like a broken record skipping only on such a "dumb" (pardon the pun) phrase?

1. The next time
some undereducated, fundamentalist RW bozo looks at me the minute I start talking and rolls his eyes accompanied by that loud exhalation of air, "GHAAAAAaaaaaaaa" he will find out that I have failed miserably at being a pacifist.

Feel sorry for them, if that is all they have they have nothing.

2. "DUMB" is voting against their own interests....
which most of them do not even realize they are doing.

3. I noticed you called him "ex-brother"...
I have had this same problem my whole life, as my Mother is a flaming Blind-Allegiance to the Repubicants Bushbot. She drives me crazy as I really think she has becomed detached from reality of late. She blames Clinton for everything including the Iraq War and the Levees breaking in New Orleans. I can't stand being around my Freeper Relatives because even if we don't argue politics, there is always an undercurrent of unease when we gather.

5. That's the perfect phrase......
for my extended family. Undercurrent of unease is the best of what used to happen. Now, half the family is estranged from the other half.

It is difficult for me to reconcile how their racist attitudes set in. After Katrina, I won't even try anymore. I won't accept it.

It's like civil war without the bullets yet.

12. The "I won't even try anymore..."
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 02:50 PM by blue sky at night
is right about where I am at. I heard a great Sermon at Church from a Man who gave up all material comforts to go to work in the Inner City to help people. His message was one of stop fighting and forget our differences (do you recall Jesus?) to get working on helping, on serving others. I felt bad, but I feel that if I gave up and stopped fighting them, that would be all that changed...they would laugh at me and call me an idiot. That is why a few years ago I decided I would fight, and thats where I am today. An overall sadness is beginning to overtake me...it all seems so hopeless.

7. Just like the Civil War....
...tore families asunder, this murderous, crowing, insipid bastard in the White House has divided our houses. When the soon-to-be, smash hit, reality TV show, "Impeach, Indict, and Imprison," hits the airwaves in January 2007 then you'll see the nation reunite.

8. Yes, he's now my "ex-brother" officially - Total nutball! Seriously read..
I actually am so worried about him I called our dad, who's as progressive as I am, if not moreso. We talked very earnestly for about 45 minutes.

My father was not aware of some of my brother's mentally ill behaviors, which I'd been keeping to myself for over a year. While Googling my brother, trying to find his phone #, since he owns this ice cream shop I figured it would be easily available... I found something else.

My brother actually was the target of an online petition to get him removed from eBay for his harassment and racial abuse of buyers! He was once a big seller there.

That's not the weird part. Okay, so it is. But in the petition the guy who started it included excerpts from my brother's emails, where he called the buyer a "sand n****er" and refused to answer him after repeated emails.

One signer reported my brother called her workplace and harassed her.

So I'm hoping this is all fake, right? Until I see my own brother responding! I know how he writes, and it was indeed him! He started spewing more racial epithets on this petition as separate entries! He would leave his name and phone number and e-mail address (which is why this showed up at the top of my Google search) with many messages.

In one message he wrote (I'm paraphrasing so none of you can find it via Google and hunt the poor, sick mentally ill bastard down, merely a precaution):
I witnessed relevant events pre-9/11 activties relted to the terror attack, I was running for Mayor ....... so save my life.... notice 9/11 was primary in NY...... I was banned as a 3rd party candidate from the deabes on the right to lifers party..... but after primary day only 4 candidates left for mayor and i'd be one...... but primary was delayed for 2 weeks cause of 9/11. Also on 9/11 an AP story says CIA was doing flight sims of plane crashing into a buildin before the terrorist attacks....quoting a mr. fulton.... ... personally i think the cia is taking the rap for another gov't aency if this is true..."

So he signed this bizarre message, related to nothing in particular, with his name and phone number!

When he wouldn't stop harassing me earlier this week - I had emailed him and told him to please never contact me again, so in response he started sending me tons of Freeper propoganda... I finally unloaded and said, "Listen I know who you are. I know you're mentally sick and you're not my brother. I know you're practically criminal." I had to threaten him with legal action to leave me alone.

So I copied in some of his crazier rants from that petition and said, "Don't think you've hidden your true self from me... Dad, mom and your own other sister (his twin who died in 1980, sweet girl) would be so sickened and ashamed by you for this..."

He shut up.

I worried that I might have gone too far so I called my dad. He actually respects my father. Needless to say, Dad's trying to figure out what to do but he's up against a wall. Call him on it, and my brother will almost certainly cut him out completely, which would hurt my dad far too much... Plus it would give us one less lifeline to try to get this sick SOB help...

Anyway, so I doubt I'll see him for a long, long while. He doesn't show up at family gatherings. He's estranged himself from everyone as much as he possibly can. His now ex-wife was a sweetheart, so he cheated on her repeatedly. He's destroying himself.

And I can't figure out why.

11. Inspite of being a business owner....
...and in his mind a "self-made man" he is one of those disenfranchised souls who feels he has no power over his own life economically. Thus he spews hatred on his targets as kind of a cathartic exercise to regain some of his power and to shift blame from who is responsible for his life - him - to someone else.

Of course, the only other power he holds onto are the weapons he probably owns. Unfortunately, as soon as the last vestiges of fake power are surrendered, it's this power - from the barrel of a gun - that becomes the first option.

4. Because folks like your bro....
...believe that their "common sense" is the only true form of intelligence. Unfortunately, the graveyards of the world are filled with people with nothing more than "common sense."

(Next time you see him, ask him how his truck transfers BHP to SHP through the differentials that allow him to drive to and from work. You'll be surprised how "common sense" can't answer that question - not).

Your last sentence is spot on. And thanks for recognizing that yes, I'm not estranged out of hate, but because I need to take care of myself.

13. You said it yourself..Projection
I remember reading how Shrub's flubbing (as in dismembering) of the English language and anti-intellectual attitude endeared him to "Red America" becuase it made him seem like "One of them"

Apparently "red America" has self esteem issues.

14. The people around Bush know what will happen when they diminish
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 12:01 AM by applegrove
all government institutions. It is a well thought out plan to create a vacuum that then corporations can jump into and make all the money off of. with Tax money that that don't even pay into & blead from community initiatives.

They use Dumb to hide to themselves the strategy behind the void in governance. Just a smokescreen like so much else. They want to be under-estimated.

Be not fooled freepers. The people who brought you G.W. Bush are not dumb by any stretch of the imagination. At least not intellectually.

What the Rove's and the Norqhuests want is for everyone to be given the bad information so that they can have power. Making people afraid and not solving issues like voter transparency & terrorism keeps people thinking about things other than what is really going on. (the trauma of 9.11 has not been healed in any way cause it pays off & the trauma of ignored voting transparency issues keeps democrats at teach others throats). And the last thing they want is for people to know what is going on. They always want to be under-estimated.

The nefarious really like it. Same feeling they get when they sell a used car lemon "boy I pulled something over on those people". The lifeblood of the people around Bush is to make voters dumb. So they can dominate and feed their egos. What they hate most in the world is not winning. What they hate most is being accurately estimated

Fact is that sociopaths are dumb human beings emotionally. Very disabled. The best things in life are free but sociopaths are uniquely incapable of enjoying those things. They are the emotionally-challenged. No reason to sit down after a long day's work and relax with those they love, tied a shoe, throw a ball around with the kids or think about community, the past, hopes, dreams, what they learnt on that day or could have been done better. Because sociopaths cannot feel these things.

Every day one more day the same for them - running their egos from zero (one needs feelings to have any real self-esteem) to one hundred 100%
by "taking", "dominating", "fooling", "getting", "diminishing", "playing" all those they come into contact with. And all those they have any sort of control over. Win Win Win Win Win. And nothing else. And not being able to even feel "winning" properly - they require that they see loss on the faces of the country they diminish often. Why the gravitate to politics. God knows who those turkey's were who got online and pounded the democrats on the boards who had just lost the presidential election (Kerry). But they were all Republicans. We know that much.

Freepers are the fools who do most of this feeding. How sad is that. Just a new line. A new spin for them to roll out. I wouldn't want to see the truth if I was a freeper. I'd want to see Bush as just plain dumb too. Otherwise they have to accurately estimate who their leaders are. And it isn't pretty.
