Di d anyone catch Ben Stein this morning on CBS?
He was crying for help for the animals left in NO. It was quite a presentation about helping man best friend. Didn't know he has an once of compassion in his whole body.
Nice to see him do the only descent thing he has ever done in his whole life.

2. the hate mail is probably getting to him...
my guess is that he wants to show people that he can care about something other than himself. Was he convincing?

6. No, and he whined about being overtaxed,
though he made it clear he didn't mind money being spent on rescuing pets.

7. Have you read his column? He really loves his dog.
This probably got personal with him. His dog goes everywhere with him and goes by the name Puppy Wuppy in his column. He probably could see it happening to his dog. Maybe this will be his awakening.

9. Here is his article about the disaster itself
http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=8693

His first 3 points argue the fallacy that george bush caused the hurricane when the complaint isn't that he caused the hurricane he failed to respond to the disaster.

Then he makes these great points, blaming the people:

5.) George Bush had nothing to do with the hurricane contingency plans for New Orleans. Those are drawn up by New Orleans and Louisiana. In any event, the plans were perfectly good: mandatory evacuation. It is in no way at all George Bush's fault that about 20 percent of New Orleans neglected to follow the plan. It is not his fault that many persons in New Orleans were too confused to realize how dangerous the hurricane would be. They were certainly warned. It's not George Bush's fault that there were sick people and old people and people without cars in New Orleans. His job description does not include making sure every adult in America has a car, is in good health, has good sense, and is mobile.

8.) George Bush is rushing every bit of help he can to New Orleans and Mississippi and Alabama as soon as he can. He is not a magician. It takes time to organize huge convoys of food and now they are starting to arrive. That they get in at all considering the lawlessness of the city is a miracle of bravery and organization.

Based on this, shouldn't he be blaming the pets for not utilizing their sixth sense and racing away from the shores of LA well ahead of time?

and didn't that "teach us all how scary Hillary's health care plan would be terrible for the nation".

Glad he has found something to love.

11. I always wondered!
Apparently they've gone completely wacky with their darwinism (as opposed to just halfway wacky). Natural selection should be allowed to work for humans, but not animals? Freakin' amazing.

Talk about insanity...

13. Ben Whine wrote a column NOT about his Mercedes...
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 12:19 AM by onager
...or his "little condo in Malibu, which I only bought as a tax write-off?"

Amazing!

This usually leads into one of his crying jags about the evil poor people stealing his money.

If you really want to have fun, see if you can find Stein's big entertainment project from the 1980's: the TV mini-series "Amerika." Commies invade 'Murika, posing as U.N. employees!!!

That POS makes "Red Dawn" look like "Citizen Kane."
