First Lady steps in to defuse anger at Bush
By Philip Sherwell in Washington
(Filed: 11/09/2005)

The White House has turned to its most popular performer in an effort to rebuff criticism of its handling of Hurricane Katrina.

Laura Bush, the normally mildly spoken First Lady, is defending her husband in defiant terms - describing some of the criticism of President George W Bush as "disgusting".

Her remarks came as Mr Bush's attempt to defuse public anger by replacing the man in charge of the recovery operation appeared to have fallen flat. Although Michael Brown, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, was recalled to Washington, he was not sacked from his job - and President Bush's approval ratings continues to hover at an all-time low.

Mrs Bush intervened after Kanye West, the rapper, and Howard Dean, the Democratic Party chairman, said that race played a role in the United States government's poor response to the hurricane and blamed her husband for the disproportionate numbers of Afro-American victims.

32. Time to sign up the twins
If poll numbers stay low, look for him to sign up the twins to make believe they might go to Iraq. It will all be a fox farce, as with everything else they but it may help the poll numbers.

2. Let's be REALLY clear: The West and Dean statements were WAY different.
West said that Bush didn't care about black people.

Dean said that minorities and the aged made up for a disproportionate percent of the economically disadvantaged who were hit particularly hard by disasters like Katrina.

I prefer West's statement.

Personally, I prefer Dean's statement.

36. Chris Rock said "George Bush hates

midgets."

At least that's what it sounded like to us, though some claim he used the N word. He said it kind of under his breath and quickly before starting his bit on the "Shelter from the Storm" benefit concert. They might have cut it in the re-runs.

3. "Most popular"?
I wonder. Mike Malloy played the clip of Laura talking about the hurricane. She said "Hurricane Corina", not once but 3 times.

Malloy mentioned that she sounded drugged. I had to agree.

43. Agreed.
And her stepping into the fray will not diffuse any anger. It's only going to make it worse. So, with that thought, I think she ought to go ahead and step in the shit!

15. She's living in a world not too many of us share
And if only we could trade our paycheck to paycheck (or complete cave-in after that) existence for her perspective and the ASSets behind it.

How about a government that represents all of the people all of the time?

10. Well, I'll just let you have it then...
Since you are so into education and literacy why don't you teach your hubby how to fucking read so he dosen't have to be personally "briefed" wasting valuable time so people can do their fucking jobs instead of his.

And speaking of jobs, when are your deadbeat daughters going to get some? Those twits are what?...15 months out of college? At least Paris and Nicole got off their mattressbacks and humped some minimum wage jobs (at least on TV). I'm sure B&J are qualified to be extras on "Taradise" at least.

At least you didn't get your parenting skills from your bug-eyed battle-ax mother-in-law (did you?)

Oh and PS...(GFY Pickles)

13. I don't understand
How could this possibly help Bush?

It's always ASSUMED his wife supports him.

Same as it is with any other president.

After all, she stays with him.

This would only be newsworthy if she DIDN'T.

14. Pickles doesn't even know the name of
the hurricane. I find it disgusting and embarrassing that this drugged-out Stepford wife is hustled in front of the cameras to supposedly shore up her train wreck of a husband. I look forward to the day when the two of them pack up their fully-stocked liquor cabinet, and load it onto a U-haul truck with a big sign on the side that reads "Crawford or Bust."

19. One of the most beautiful things...
When someone perpetrates a crime and sees their error, and then apologizes and changes their way, dramatically, it is a thing of peace and beauty. This does not diminish the crime. I have seen a murderer befriend the victim's family in a genuinely caring way. And it is like a rebirth. But it cannot be done for the criminal by anyone else. And it is a profound transformation that is real and can be witnessed by all. Laura cannot do it for George. And I have serious disbelief that Mr. George Bush can and will alter his behavior pattern. That is partly because his behavior is part of a group. It is very much akin to a Mafia family. This is not George Bush acting alone. This is a complex personal/corporate relationship. Even if George comes clean, it would not be the same as a personal transformation. We need every single person involved to come forward and make admissions. But this isn't going to happen without legal consequences. And I can all but guarantee that the lies and criminal activities will continue.

I don't think Laura knows the full extent of the mess she is in the middle of.

"They say nothing ever changes
Which is certainly true of the Poly-ocracy
The sweetest sound she had ever heard
Was the whinging and crying due to the recession.
In fact, if you get up pretty close enough

She had a Joker Hysterical Face

Her back head's full of skriking* kids
There's no cure so find a case for it

Let's face it, you don't make the same mistake twice X2
