Matthews -- what an idiot. K was right -- if you make abortion illegal people will go to jail. Not the women, as Matthews was shrilling about, but wouldn't doctors, didn't they in the olden times?

I've never seen a congressman treated with such blatant disrispect. All he did was yell at DK. Hypocrite! Panderer! Never let him speak-backed him into a corner and then called him desperate. It was such a setup to humiliate DK. It was shocking. DK looked shocked and seemed almost tempted to leave but feared that ould be worse.I never watch Tweety but I've been reading somme decent quotes from him lately but I won't again. F-him!

19. By The Way
Why did Dennis Kucinich flip flop on abortion from being an ardent anti-choicer to an ardent pro choicer.

I am suspect of folks who have these conversions whether they go from anti-choice to pro -choice like Jesse Jackson, Dick Gephardt and Dennis Kucinich or pro-choice to anti-choice like Papa and Baby Bush.

41. Kucinich addresses this...
he was anti-abortion because the constituents in his district are this way...he changed his stance because, as president, he would be representing a constituency that supports abortion....a delegate approach to representation

21. I wouldn't like it, but then I'm not running for President. He was totall
totally unprepared and out of his element. Hey, if he got the nod, I'd vote for him to get rid of Bunnypants without a second thought, but there are a couple hundred million voters who wouldn't. His support is an inch deep and a foot wide. And his 'performance' today sure didn't help. He needs to get the hell out and wait for a nominee he can support. A few thousand votes will help whoever gets it.

27. Well, I submit that his kind of passive acceptance ain't gonna work agains
the kinds of attacks he would (or will) face in a campaign. If he can't handle the heat, he needs to get the hell out of the kitchen. Many of us have groaned about how the Dems have gone on their knees ready to fellate the RWers and that's pretty much what DK did. This is not a sewing circle, it's a fight for our democratic republic and being a wimp is not going to work.

FWIW, I still haven't figured out which Dem I'm gonna support. None of them are bad, but I can't find a whole lot of good in any of them at this juncture. None of the guys running have me energized...of course I'll support whichever gets the nod, but right now I have to say I'm inclined toward Wes Clark, ONLY because he's the one with the most electable image, in my opinion. I certainly may be wrong, but as a practical matter, what counts in the final analysis is who can decisively beat the Chimp. Kay?

It could've been anybody, and anybody, with the exception of Bush and his cabal, doesn't deserve that treatment. I'd like to kick that punk's ass. What makes him think he can treat public figures with such personal hostility, while lapping at the boots of the likes of Santorum, a man filled with hate and ignorance? Kuchinich, all things aside, is a good and decent man and he never gets on his knees.

It comes as no surprise that they are dragging Kuchinich over the coals(Why do they feel they have license to while they never attack that smirking dimwit bully *?) Kuchinich's shift on abortion is a liability, and the same goes for his skipping the NAACP meeting- It was a bad political move, will cause him future headaches and create the need for him to constantly explain himself. Which is why I support Dean. The fighter.

Tweety is the epitome of the stupid white man. The epitome.

43. excuse me, but if you can't get in a word edgewise
against a shrieking madman like Chris matthews...
how can you call it passive acceptance??

When they take the camera off & probably turn off your mic as well...what recourse is there??

I thought DK kept his calm in the face of that screaming & salivating a** mathews- he tried to give decent answers but was treated with such disrespect..

How can anyone who calls themselves a liberal...show such glee at another human being getting the treatment Dennis Kucinich received...I say shame on you all!

I don't care who the candidate is...all of them deserve to be treated with civility at the very least.

How shameful and repulsive this show is...probably do more to backfire on Matthews ...but then most of those who listen to his insane rants wouldn't vote dem anyway.

DK is still the man as far as I'm concerned...god ...what is with some people here?? do you guys eat your own children?? ya sure as hell eat your own here on DU judging by some of the posts against candidates I've seen lately....

35. He's running for president - the gloves are off
If he wants to take on the Bush gang, he has to come out swinging. He should known he's vulnerable on Roe V. Wade and should have been prepared to meet this head on. Most people here would have jumped on Bush for a performance like this.
I want a president that can brush off an O'Rielly or a Matthews and stay on message.

I have never seen anything so blatently rude and vicious as Matthews' attack on DK. It doesn't matter how well prepared you think DK was - ANYONE would have been stunned at that kind of treatment. Matthews SCREAMED at DK several times - Abso-fucking-lutly unbelievable behavior. His obvious dislike for DK was more than palpable. I will be writing MSNBC on this - not that it will change anything - But I have the EMAIL here below for those that want to do likewise. That was pure meaness, unexcusable.

30. Boycott Matthews: It's simple as that
For any Democrat to say that the Matthews v DK bit was FUN????? is absolutely unbelieveable to me, whether you are for him or not.

If any self-respecting Democrat appears on Matthews program again, it just shows what pink-tu-tu wearing phonies they are

And many of you DUers wonder why many people like me voted Nader

Why vote for Democrats when they can be treated with such disrespect by such trash?

I'm poised to dump my union for the same reason

Why keep giving my time, money, energy and emotion to organizations that work directly against the things that matter to me most

The 2 party system is dead

The founders didn't even want parties

Man I can't even describe how upset I am at what I just saw,...DK was the one Democrat that isn't a war pig and might have gotten my vote (although TOM HARKIN would have my vote in a second he's too 'liberal' for you so-called Democrats)

Look at how the Dems treat McGovern and it tells you why people like me voted Nader. I'd rather lose with dignity than pull shit like Nixon

But after watching what the Democrats let the media do to Gore, why even waste our time on this party?

Read the Daily Howler and tell me the Democrats have any kind of clue how to get fair press coverage

anyway,....sorry for this no-link venting,....but something has to be said,....Matthews was quite frankly close to a harrassment charge if they would have been in the same room and he would have lurched forward to stand and pound his fist on the table shouting,...."Tell me which congressman!"

So then DK names one and then Matthews basically calls him a fool.

How can you Democrats, with whom I vote for 90% of the time not respond to this?

Get the transcript, I'm never watching that foolish idiot again,...and if the PARTY does not respond to this embarrassment, DK should get the hell out of the race and join the Nader ticket!

Losing in 2004 is NOT an option, and the Dems currently get media raped every single day

Who the hell did Matthews think he was? How the hell did he think he could get away with that performance?

42. I agree, Matthews was very harsh, and DK was shocked
and not prepared to be talked to that way. It was a horrible sight. DK was downright punked. It made me cringe because DK seems like such a nice guy. The attack would have seemed more fair if Matthews had displayed the same venom towards Nunan yesterday, and Santorum today. Matthews has shown his true colors. At the same time, I think DK came off as kind of weak. Dean would have never stood for that type of treatment... so for that reason, I can no longer support DK for president.
