AP wire: Brown doesn't know why he was removed
Some humor in these grim times:

Brown doesn't know why he was removed

WASHINGTON - A beleaguered Michael Brown said Friday he doesn't know why he was removed from his onsite command of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, but he does know the first thing he'll do when he returns to Washington.

"I'm going to go home and walk my dog and hug my wife, and maybe get a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and a full night's sleep," Brown told The Associated Press. "And then I'm going to go right back to FEMA and continue to do all I can to help these victims."
(snip)
Asked if he was being made a scapegoat, Brown said, "By the press, yes. By the president, no."

He heatedly denied suggestions by some news organizations that he had padded his resume, answering some charges point by point...

Uh, Brownie...Happy Bunny is very concerned:

BTW, I'd love to see him let loose on Bushco.

15. Not entirely what I meant
I have a feeling, that despite pressure from Cheney, Chertoff did this all on his own, in an attempt to look like he was taking charge. I doubt Brown would have been demoted, even with fire coming out of Cheney's mouth.

10. Probably ...
... that's, at least, a reasonable explanation for him not recognizing how "F'ed" up FEMA's response (accurately lack of response) was.

4. Did he not listen to Cherkoff?
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 05:42 PM by Mass
He spinned that wonderfully. The urgent crisis is finished, they need Brown to supervise all the project now in case there is another disaster. That's certainly spin at its best.

You mean the guy is not smart enough to repeat a talking point?

22. Brownie didn't know why he was at FEMA.
Talk about pride and denial. Only an incompetent would play dumb like this.

How many freaking states have had to send police and firemen down here to gain control of the city? Is that a clue to the magnitude of this national emergency that he mis-handled?

Two words: Super...dome.

30. BUSH made a deal..."Brownie you take the heat on this and
we'll take care of ya' later on. Heh heh...<pats Brownie on back>"

The only question is how long it will take Brownie to reappear. Maybe BUSH will get him a job with the Carlyle Group. Or Cheney will help him out at Halliburton. Fucking sycophant.
