Tons of Anti-Bush Musicians on every channel tonight? Who do I thank?
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 02:31 PM by Melodybe
Let's see we got Green Day, the Dixie Chicks, Kanye West, the Stones, Neil Young, Paul Simon, and on and on.

I don't think I've seen a performance by the Dixie Chicks where they didn't slam W. Kanye just came out with a new song, Neil Young will not keep quiet, The Rolling Stones could play their new song Sweet Neo-con, I am thinking that their is just no way in hell that thesee performers are going to hold their tongues, not tonight.

That rules, every network will be broadcasting the performances of the most vocal anti-Bush muscians out there? How the hell did that happen and who can I thank?

Is Bob Dylan playing? Will I see him perform masters of war?

This just rules!!!!

14. 20 second delays - believe me they'll be quiet
Plus I highly doubt the networks will allow for much pre-music chit-chat. When you see Kayne West or Green Day perform they will NOT allow them to speak before or after the song. Just play the music, thank you very much. And more than likely there will be requests to skip over the more political songs like Kayne West's Jesus Walks, Stones Sweet Neo-con or Green Day's Holiday, Minority or American Idiot.

I'm almost tired of these scripted schlockfest. I know the artists mean well but it's way too controled by the media for any enjoyment. Nothing like listening to a song that has to be bleeped out 2-3 times for naughty words

NEW YORK - The producer of Friday's one-hour telethon to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims said no special precautions will be taken to edit out political statements — even though rapper Kanye West is on the bill.

13. NFL pre-season made it a point to keep them quiet last night
I watched some of the pre-game concert last night and NFL made it a point to not allow the musicians to have much of a chance to tell their political view points.

I didn't see the Stones do "Sweet Neo-con", when they showed Kayne West they went straight to his performance with no pre-song chit-chat with Adam Levine of Maroon 5 (but the song they did was very political). Even Green Day did one of their less political songs from 'American Idiot' (Boulevard)

Although we'll be seeing plenty of anti-bush groups the next 2 night you better believe after the Kayne incident that the musicians will be told to play their songs (don't get too political, I doubt Green Day will do American Idiot) and no chatter. But to be on the safe side - probably at least a 20second delay

46. you're darnd right they are!
Bono believes America and the concept of it as anyone born and raised here...

Even in the lyric for "Crumbs From Your Table", a song about the US under this administration.-

Crumbs From Your Table

From the brightest star
Comes the blackest hole
You had so much to offer
Why did you offer your soul?
I was there for you baby
When you needed my help
Would you deny for others
What you demand for yourself?

Cool down mama, cool off
Cool down mama, cool off

You speak of signs and wonders
I need something other
I would believe if I was able
But I’m waiting on the crumbs from your table

You were pretty as a picture
It was all there to see
Then your face caught up with your psychology
With a mouth full of teeth
You ate all your friends
And you broke every heart thinking every heart mends

You speak of signs and wonders
But I need something other
I would believe if I was able
But I’m waiting on the crumbs from your table

Where you live should not decide
Whether you live or whether you die
Three to a bed
Sister Ann, she said
Dignity passes by

And you speak of signs and wonders
But I need something other
I would believe if I was able
I’m waiting on the crumbs from your table

"Crumbs From Your Table" U2

Lousy taste in music in general.

Other bands will be performing in local benefits...Doobie Brothers and a whole bunch of others in Oct. in Sonoma Co. (CA)

I would like to have one of the major symphonies put on a benefit with appropriate classical music. New Orleans was the site of the first performances of French opera in the US. The contribution of the city to classical music culture should also be remembered.

50. Do you really want to know the answer to your question???
Thank those who died, suffered, and live in the 'no persons land' of displaced people. Thank those who endured, and screamed out for help that came too late for too many.
Thank the black americans, the poor white trash- and the quirky gotta love 'em crazy people who had the guts to live a few levee's away from hell.
THIS is the 'Real face of America'- lots of people who came from little, among those who begrudged them even that. They are the bodies of my brothers and sisters, my aunts and uncles, mother and fathers- my neighbors, my friends, and my family. And god love each one of them, because the hell they lived through cost them more than we could ever pay- with all the telethons or gifts, or 'things' in this world- They have shown us how ugly we really are, and how beautiful, in living and dying color.

There aren't enough thanks...or regrets to ever begin to cover the price, the cost.
