17. from the website--brown says PRESS made him a scrapecoat-NOT jr.!

Brown will be replaced by Coast Guard Vice Adm. Thad Allen, who earlier this week was named his deputy to oversee relief and rescue efforts.

Asked if he was being made a scapegoat for a federal relief effort that has drawn widespread and sharp criticism, Brown told The Associated Press after a long pause: "By the press, yes. By the president, no."

Brown is being sent back to Washington from Baton Rouge, La. He was the primary official overseeing the federal government's response to the disaster.

Time magazine on Friday reported that Brown’s official biography overstated his emergency-management experience.

72. Not ENOUGH!!
What I am writing to MSM today:
To me, as a reporter for the Coastal Post, (www.coastalpost.com) reading my copious emails of Aug 31 to Sept 4th, this past week has plunged so many of us into despair.

To think that in 1948 our nation rescued the beleagured city of Berlin, Germany by employing an air drop of supplies, and food
and medicine, thus saving Berlin from Communism.

But the Bush administration's relief agencies could only come up with convoys of trucks that set out days too late and then SLOWLY
made their way through wind-shield wiper deep waters.

FEMA turned back dozens of offers of aid, including a massive relief effort sponsored by the City of Chicago, and offered by the
mayor of Chicago.

What is going on? So the administration will neither help victims in an area that is mostly Democratic voters - and they will not accept aid from a city that is mostly Democratic voters?

Or is it worse? Is it the "g" word. Is it genocide?

Can you imagine if a disaster struck say, Paris, France, our new enemy now that it has not helped with the Iraqi war. If that city was flooded, and no aid went to the Moslem or African immigrants? If TV newsreel after TV newsreel showed women with dark skin, stretching out their free arms, begging for drinking water, while holding their infants in their other arms?

What would American newscasters say about that? I bet they'd be BEING TOLD to use the "g" word.

So why aren't the media saying the obvious about the here and now. Why aren't they saying, no, SCREAMING!! That something is
miserably WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Or is it that the media are being told to say nothing??

Clinton left this country with working agencies - and he did not even have the benefit of ALL the Homeland Security funding. These
monies supposedly have been taken from us tax payers to boost our chances of dealing with disaster. (This transfer of funding leaves many local programs bankrupt - the list includes transportation districts, schools, libraries, police and fire departments, etc. And perhaps in a year or two we will find another IOU to explain that the Social Secuirity money was borrowed for Homeland Security programs.)So what gives?

It is not only Brown who should be leaving the government. It is the MAN himself.

And he needs to accept Cheney's resignation at the same moment that he offers the nation his.

Carol Sterritt

79. Enjoy that margarita Brownie... people are dead because of you
"I'm going to go home and walk my dog and hug my wife and, maybe get a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and a full night's sleep. And then I'm going to go right back to FEMA and continue to do all I can to help these victims," Brown said.

82. here is the margarita quote.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,168915,00.html

In an earlier telephone interview with The Associated Press, Brown said the move was not a demotion and that Chertoff made the call.

"I'm going to go home and walk my dog and hug my wife and, maybe get a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and a full night's sleep. And then I'm going to go right back to FEMA and continue to do all I can to help these victims," Brown said. "This story's not about me. This story's about the worst disaster of the history of our country that stretched every government to its limit and now we have to help these victims.

"That's all I've wanted to do," Brown added.

Lawmakers React

"At last President Bush has recognized what I have been saying for more than a week -- the federal response to this disaster must be managed by a capable leader," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California said in a statement Friday. "Admiral Allen is an emergency response professional, which has been lacking from federal management of this crisis. Admiral Allen has a difficult job ahead, but at least he brings to it years of experience."

84. Cafferty on The situation Room (CNN) says about this question:
"Should Brownie be fired? Duh!, The guy's an embarrassment."

Cafferty is a member of the media who busted through the spin in a way that should make O'Reilly sit in the corner, sucking on a tear-marinated lolly.

O'Reilly, another of this era's embarrassments.

98. End the spin against local & state government.
If we're to get out of this mess, the buck must stop on the commander in chief's desk. Only then will he become a real leader when he takes responsibility and actually fixes something in this country, instead of continually profitting from his incompetence.
