Who is TWEETY?
I keep reading references to him and bashes -- but who is he? Is this a nickname to someone I already know? Please, someone, TELL ME!

12. My Thought
Has always been that he looks specifically like Tweety Bird in the "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde" episode where Tweety drinks the potion and turns into... uh, well...

6. He told Frank Luntz yesterday....
that he's not as liberal as he "seems." Mr. Matthews told us he voted for * in the last election! I am shocked--SHOCKED!--that he didn't vote for Mr. Gore, whose earth toned wardrobe fascinated Chris for so many months.

31. I prefer to call him "Screamer"
Screamer never allows an opinion he dislikes to be heard over his own shrieking hysterical voice. His acknowledgement that he voted for Gore is one of the few honest statements bellowed forth from his rightwad lips. Luntz feigning surprise was ludicrous.
He sometimes pretends he has a Liberal thought in his encephalitic head...but it's all a ploy. He has Annthrax Culter on waaaay too often and displays admiration for her/him/it.
He is just another media whore.

Matthews said of Too Stupid to be President:

"He's our young warrior-king"

13. And we need to emphasize that any . . .
deviation from the party line marks one as a puppet and a fool. Chris Matthews does not agree with us 100% and is therefore evil.

I actually like Christ Matthews; I don't agree with his positions, and think he's been a bit soft on President Bush and too hard on Gore, but I think he comes by those positions honestly.

But I am in the minority, I understand.

16. No, He Doesn't "come by those positions honestly"
He is a shameless flunky. If he were honest he would be questioning Ahhhnuld about Enron instead of blushing like a girl. If he were honest he would not be the shameless whore for Shrub and RAYGUN. The wingnuts don't trust him, why should we? Most of us don't require that somebody agree with us 100% of the time, but we are fools if we don't know who our enemies are.

18. So if Matthews were an honest man
He would ask the questions you would ask? I don't know.

I know him mainly from his books though--and both of them are a couple of years old. I don't watch news shows, getting my info of the ever reliable Internet.

22. Just Ask the Questions EQUALLY
Tune him in for any five minutes and you will see him HAMMER any Dem guest while CODDLING any wingnut. Whether he's doing this for cable ratings (older, richer, more wingnut viewers)----and failing miserably since his ratings are the pits------or to over-compensate for being labeled "a Democrat", he is not even a fair news reader, much less a Dem. As for his books, his latest---those thin things with WIDE spaces and BIG type----was a rip-off of "Americana", purporting to criticize Liberals for not being patriotic enough. He used it to publically execute DONAHUE on DONAHUE's own show, accusing Phil and us of being "negative" about the U.S. I realize that he built up a DEEP loyalty among Dems WAY BACK when he was one of our operatives, but he hasn't been that way for a LONG LONG time.

28. well, there's your problem
"I know him mainly from his books though--and both of them are a couple of years old. I don't watch news shows, getting my info of the ever reliable Internet. "

the text Tweety of book and column "fame" is no more - you really need to watch him on Hardball... it'll take a few minutes at most for the revulsion to set in.

20. I don't think he is "evil"
But I do think he has been too soft on * and too hard on Gore--as he is with MANY dem candidates. He is very much like Russert in this respect. I also think he's an incredible misogynist and homophobe, but he can discuss race and class in interesting ways. You can tell he loves the back-slapping and circle-jerking of political insiders, which is fine...but I don't think it's admirable or that it makes for a good reporter.

One last thing or two. I always watch him, even if I just yell at him when he shouts down very smart libs like Katrina Vanden Heuvel so he can let Luntz talk more. He was incredibly deferential toward Sen. Clinton, towards whom he had behaved terribly (he has since regressed), but I think this is just because he really IS a whore who is more interested in remaining proximate to power than anything.

23. you don't find him incredibly rude?
He is constantly interrupting and talking over people who are allegedly his "guests". Someone staarts to make a point, and if he disagrees with it, he simply spats (literally) out some drivel, yelling over him/her.

and I don't think he's evil at all. I don't agree with the party line 100% either. What bothers me about me is his paper-thin nonpartisan facade. He's conservative. There's nothing really wrong with that, but at least have the balls to admit your biases. Matthews sort of did that last night, but twas hardly a revelation.

33. a "bit soft on Bush"--that's the understatement of the day
the guy is a screaming jerk. He panders to the right and only throws a few bones to the left when it serves his purpose.

I listened to him alot after the false Niger report came out in July and I actually thought he was seeing the light, but to watch him whore for Arnold, not to mention his continuing pander for bush...nah, he's still a screaming jerk.

He also spits alot...have to wipe my screen constantly.

14. Here's the Full Monty, So to Speak
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 02:54 PM by UTUSN
During Campaign 2000 the media whores were swooning over the nicknames Shrub was giving some of them. Media Whores Online ran a contest to nickname Chris-the-Whore. In the first 3 or so weeks, there was no clear, catchy front runner, with "The Screamer" sort of leading. Then one of The Whore's own Hardball staff LEAKED to MWO that his own staff called him Tweety because of the Clairol shade he favored. This was immediately declared the winner. But in some quarters, it wasn't entirely satisfactory. For one thing, by the time it was declared, the shade had changed to platinum, leading to a suggestion he be called Carole LOMBARD. Plus, "Tweety" sounds too affectionate towards this JERK WHORE. Then M-TV held it's 20th or 25th or whatever anniversary, and all the cable whores were doing segments of Brittany shedding her duds down to almost nothing. Not to be left behind in any whore game, Tweety followed suit, with a guest from Time Mag, the young humor columnist, whassisname. The staff kept re-running the Britany clip, and Tweety was clearly DROOLING disgustingly. The Time dude said, "You're beginning to creep me out." Tweety responded, "Yeah, well, wait till YOU're 50." This led to the suggestion that "Tweety" be modified to "Tweezer" to retain the hair reference while canceling out the affection factor and also adding the (dirty old) "geezer" angle.

Just to round out the Tweety portrait: 1- He is our enemy. 2- The last time he was identifiably a Democrat was circa 1988 when his book, Hardball, was first published. 3- He's a political flunky who worships SUCCESS, and started "turning" through admiration for RAYGUN's kicking his Dem bosses' rears. 4- He was ABSOLUTELY VICIOUS to President GORE all through Campaign 2000. 5- He triggered a gun incident by WRONGLY naming Kathleen WILLEY's supposed "jogger" (Pat BUCHANAN's mentally ill brother took the gun to the house). 6- He is a de facto wingnut operative. 7- He voted for Shrub.
