MSM already back on the Bush message?
I've only flipped through the various news programs for about 2 hours this evening, but what I've seen hasn't been encouraging. Lots and lots of Bushco shills, explaining how this is in no way the fault of the feds.

Not seeing anything that comes close to the anger and outrage I saw from common citizens and MSM folks over the weekend.

Is this just the little bits I ran into, or is the trend back to the MSM getting back on the Bushco message machine?

2. Seems that way
They're factoring in "outrage" knowing it will pass. It's football season.

3. In short, no.

8. I think my view is skewed by living on the West Coast
The 6-7 PM hour is a desert. Local news is, well, just plain bad. And the cable channels? I've got Larry, Rita or Hannity to choose from. It's depressing.

I'll stick to web surfing.

11. Flipping channels and found Bernie Kerik going on and on
on FOX. He was explaining how the whole system worked and what would come next. Even I knew that a lot of what he was saying had been contradicted by what I'd seen on news sites throughout the day.

Guess that is a sure sign of desperation.

10. They may be able to split the difference some, a teeny bit
but everyone knows that in the United States of America thousands of people should not die after a natural disaster, and the local governments do not have money or resources to rescue people while the feds do. The mayor of NO is not blameless -- I will grant them that -- he could have pursued the evacuation more fiercely but the buck does stop with them. He may have blown it BEFORE the storm hit, but they definitely blew it big time afterwards.

12. Anderson Cooper - still pissed
And I'm not sure Lou Dobbs even found time to complain about illegal aliens. For the part that I saw he was delivering some pretty good messages about the bankruptcy billk, especially vis a vis Katrina's victims, the estate tax bill, the rise in poverty and although he said he was going to examine failures in state and local response I didn't hear much about it. Didn't see the whole thing, though.

14. And that's why you don't wait to "start pointing fingers"
Gov. Blanco and Senator Landrieu made the mistake of treating Bushco like you would treat normal people. Instead of telling their side about the terrible negligence and errors of the Bush Administration's funding of flood control in the New Orleans district and the lagging response of Bush's FEMA, and FEMA's frequently bizarre and callous decisions, they left the door open for Rove to start smearing them. Bushco is portraying its own negligence as the fault of state authorities and as soon as it hears a Bush lie, the MSM does what it ALWAYS does and begins to repeat it uncritically. Now the job of getting relief to the disaster area and beginning the rebuilding process is compounded for Gov. Blanco and Louisiana's Congressional delegation by the need to counter lying propaganda from the White House. Unfortunately this is nearly impossible once the shitstorm starts (the MSM has a boundless thirst for Bushco lies and the shitshovellers that are sent out from the GOP)
