Anyone have a good link on the Hussein Kamel testimony?
Saddam's son-in-law who was killed upon returning to Iraq.

I'm looking for a news story which points out the following: while the administration repeatedly cited his testimony as evidence that Iraq possessed numerous quantities of chem and bio-weapons (from an interview after he defected from Iraq), they failed to cite that the same man in the same testimony said that all of these weapons were destroyed.

This is a clear-cut case of intentional deception by the administration... a lie of omission designed to mislead.

2. Kamel questioned by CIA, MI.6, and UN.
SNIP....."Kamel was interrogated in separate sessions by the CIA, Britain’s M.I.6 and a trio from the United Nations, led by the inspection team’s head, Rolf Ekeus. NEWSWEEK has obtained the notes of Kamel’s U.N. debrief, and verified that the document is authentic. NEWSWEEK has also learned that Kamel told the same story to the CIA and M.I.6. (The CIA did not respond to a request for comment.)

The notes of the U.N. interrogation—a three-hour stretch one August evening in 1995— show that Kamel was a gold mine of information. He had a good memory and, piece by piece, he laid out the main personnel, sites and progress of each WMD program. Kamel was a manager—not a scientist or engineer—and, sources say, some of his technical assertions were later found to be faulty. (A military aide who defected with Kamel was apparently a more reliable source of tech-nical data. This aide backed Kamel’s assertions about the destruction of WMD stocks.) But, overall, Kamel’s information was “almost embarrass-ing, it was so extensive,” Ekeus recalled—including the fact that Ekeus’s own Arabic translator, a Syrian, was, according to Kamel, an Iraqi agent who had been reporting to Kamel himself all along....."

Where did I hear he left Iraq with lots of documents? I don't see it in this article.

8. Did he mention something buried in a "place north of baghdad?"
Doggone it, on the pdf I am sure I read that. The *find* function is giving me nothing.

That almost sounded like where someone (Rummy?) said the WMDs were to be found. But he did not indicate buried.

Interesting page. Thanks.

4. I have been noting that his testimony was a real reason to have doubted ..
WMD claims way back when. A source would be nice.

7. I would note, however... (and ask another question)
...that according to these links, it seemd that Hussein Kamel himself did not make the claims of "30,000 liters of anthrax" or "4 tons of VX" repeated by Powell and Bush as fact. They merely say that due to his defection, Iraq was forced to admit to these.

The information in the links indicates that these numbers cited by Bush et al (in the Oct. 7 speech, and even in the SOTU address) STILL refer to the material cited by Kamel, to material produced before 1991 that was destroyed in 1991.

Is this the case? Can anyone shed light on this?

9. Everything you want to know is here
This is Dr. Glen Rangwala's site. He is the expert who first ID'd the sources in the plagarized dossier, and is the consultant on WMD analysis to the anti-war Labourites in Parliament.
