Chertoff & Brown: We were "not told of...N. O. until Thursday night" ?!!
They don't get CNN?

Top federal officials left out of loop
By Audrey Hudson
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
September 5, 2005

State and local officials did not inform top federal officials early on of the deaths and lack of food among hurricane victims in the Superdome or convention center, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said yesterday.
Mr. Chertoff said neither he nor Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Michael Brown was told of the deteriorating situation in New Orleans until Thursday night.

37. Watching Fauz News isn't even an excuse this time
I was in the Pacific NW visiting family. These folks are avid Fox News fans, so you know what was blathering on the TV all day long. Even if the * stooges had been watching Fox they would have gotten it.

My opinion only, but I don't think the whole thing was of any concern to them because of the economic status and race of many of the victims. Only when they saw it as possible bad PR did these people decide to acknowledge there might be a problem.

Sickening.

38. Well Bush has stated he doesn't watch tv
Bush says he has his own sources, and I assume in this case he was relying on Chertoff of Brown. Sweet, huh?

8. Do these idiots have televisions?
How come all of us knew about it and they didn't? You'd think they'd watch the news now and then, and just maybe want to find out a little more about what was already a horrendous situation -- and very obviously so -- by Tuesday. WTF?

Was there anyone in charge in Washington or was everybody just gone for the month of August?

Holy shit, I don't even leave my house for 2 weeks with nobody in charge.

they are so out of touch with reality that they "did not know" until Thursday. Did their Mom's have to wake them, make them come in from play time, make them put their bikes away so they could hear the news? I guess they are so lazy and intellectually incurious that they couldn't find out the aftermath of a Major Hurricane. I am just a regular guy and I knew before the storm struck that people would be trapped and in need of immediate help. What a bunch of sorry ass excuse makers, never have and never will take responsibility for their actions or admit a mistake.

21. Can we chip in and get these guys a basic cable subscription?
Apparently the federal government is lacking in communications infrastructure (a single coaxial cable). Would anyone care to chip in with me to buy them basic cable so that they can find out what's happening in New Oleans when the rest of us do?

The buck stops...wait, I don't think the buck is even allowed on federal property anymore.

30. Let's not forget, Chertoff didn't know about the levee breaches
because on Tuesday morning he looked at the newspaper headline and it said "New Orleans Dodges Bullet." So he thought "Looks like my work here is done" and went on his merry way until who knows when.

Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 10:14 AM by tjdee
Somehow, I don't see Ray Nagin going quietly into that deep night when Chertoff and Brown try to perpetuate those lies.

Chris Jansing just asked him about that less than half an hour ago on MSNBC.
