Has anyone considered going to RW meet-ups??
If I were at a liberal meet up and a stealth RWer came along, I don't think I'd mind. I don't think there are many holes in my political philosophy, so I guess I'd kind of welcome the chance to engage, so long as it didn't become too unproductive. But I guess there's the risk that, you know, like, some stealth RW'er would take all your leaflets and throw them in the trash after he or she left the meeting.

But, anyway, I'd have to say that I'm very curious about the RW meet-ups. I actually think I'd be less nervous and shy about attending one of those, and I be kind of interested in how they think, even if I weren't going to intervene, and sow seeds of doubt, or even talk very much.

I don't know. This isn't a well thought out post, but I was just wondering if anyone has done this or considered doing it.

Has the FBI ever considered infiltrating a mosque?

Or a discussion board, for that matter? :tinfoilhat:

8. OK, let me rephrase
and add some info:

I don't know any RW'ers personally. I have a relative and acquaintance or two who are RW'ers, but they're OK people, and I barely ever talk politics with them, and I know why they're RW'ers -- cause they're rich as hell and two of them are selfish and shallow.

All my other relatives and friends are very liberal. I've only ever worked with ONE RW'er my whole life, and he was OK too, and he liked me, and often said "yeah, I never thought of it that way" when we talked politics.

So basically, I have NO IDEA why RW'ers think they way they do, for the most part. I spent a week once listening to Rush at work, but got sick of the commercials, so I stopped. I barely watch any TV. Nonetheless, I think I understand 100% how the radio, TV and print propaganda works. But I don't really understand how it's received. I don't know how your average American can get so warped, I don't know what their threshold is for doubting their conservative views of the world.

I'm very curious to see how they work in groups and how they think.

Sometimes I get a little jealous when I hear one of my liberal friends talk about getting into a confrontation with someone they work with or to whom they're related over politics, 'cause I don't foresee myself having any chance of getting into that situation.

Savy?

11. Well - ya wanta switch lives for a while?
I grew up with all of them. Then first chance I had I got the HELL out of there. Now I'm back in an area that's mostly Republican again.

Mainly - they have no empathy or compassion, are a bunch of selfish bastards, aren't too terribly intelligent. 99% of them are racist - and THAT's what drives them to the party. They whine about how all of their money goes to support "those lazy" poor people. They put down blacks, hispanics, jews and arabs. They've all heard that urban legend about some welfare queen who drives around in a cadillac and has a fur coat but rips off the government by getting food stamps.

When they complain about the lazy poor people - I always ask them how they think THEY would have turned out if THEY had grown up poor. If THEY would have grown up with a lousy education. Thats shuts them up pretty quick...

4. I've admit I'veposted a few times on the freeper board pretending to be a
a "Pub." Mainly just to kind of play a "devil's advocate." Not to be mean - but I really had to "dumb down." Pretend like I didn't know the issues. If you express an even slightly different viewpoint on there - they go berserk. The very first post I made they all called me a troll - LOL! They're very conformist. There is so much more freedom on this board. It's like going from the Netherlands to the old Soviet Union.

I ended up getting kicked off after a couple of posts. I wasn't really even that bad - all I did was politely and subtlely point out that an article they had on the board was propaganda.

5. Heck I
meet up with them little bastards everyday, but not on purpose. I don't think my health could stand it if I actually waded into a full fledged meeting. Kinda makes me think what a klan meeting would be like.

10. Why bother?

It's not like you'd get to meet any of the very few smart ones- they're smart enough to keep their distance. It's always like going into a slaughterhouse- you know in advance what their best possible products are and all you learn is how much stench, rot, filth, and putrid waste is separated away....

I bet the food is bad and the beer is cheap, and there is just so much I'll endure to watch the cute cheerleaders dance.

13. Once I went to a neo-nazi meeting
to get some inside info on them. It was really creepy, I had to put down environmentalists and act like I hated minorities but I was good enough at it to fool them. :wow: As soon as I could I beat it out of there though because it was nerve racking and breathing the same air as them make me feel ill. :puke: I took a really long hot shower when I got home to get the stench off of me but I still had a hard time feel really clean. :-(

14. I was considering
going to a Pub fundraiser (appropriately only $15) featuring the cheap Katherine Harris. Just before Halloween, too - ripe for satire.

Suggestions?
