Will Bush Implement A DRAFT And Blame It On Need Created By KATRINA?
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 07:28 AM by DistressedAmerican
They have needed more troops just to keep up Iraq. They want Iran. They definitely needs more troops to do that.

Now they can implement the draft and say it was not about the war. IT WAS TO AID THE SUFFERING IN THE SOUTH!

Of course they will send most of the draft overseas.

Are they working on it right now, while they could be saving people?

Again this morning I have to ask, Have I Become TOO Paranoid?

After this week, I do not trust my own instincts.

1. good God that did not even occur to me!
I have been focused on the suffering people and forgot how this bunch works when no one is looking. I think you are right and not paranoid in the least.

And everything is in place with the SSS. They just need the word from ** I believe. I don't know if congress can stop it given the powers they have given him.

2. This could explain why the media was unleashed
and our TV screens are filled nonstop with the horrific images from NO. I find it very odd that the MSM hasn't had a conscience in many, many years and now we're supposed to believe that in the past five days they suddenly snapped out of it and are being real reporters. Are they? Or, are we being set up? Would Americans revolt against the draft after all the images seen over the past week?

And, no, I don't think you're paranoid at all - just a smart person questioning something that seems very, very fishy!

3. Jack Cafferty suggested it yesterday...
He said, in essence, bring home the NG and institute a draft to take their place in Iraq.

4. Great photoshop!!!!
No, you are not too paranoid...This already has unraveled into one of the biggest blackmarks on our country's history..a mere week later...I fear it will only get worse from here on out.

Lets just hope we have a country left after this is all over.

5. Have I Become TOO Paranoid
Yes. There will be no draft.

The draft message was an election year strategy to pressure the bush administration.

Ask yourself: Has the idea of a draft been mentioned by any democratic leadership since the election???

No

6. What Do The Democratic Leadership Have To Do With ANYTHING?
The PNACers are not worried about them.

Just look at their website. The want hegemonic domination of the entire Middle East.

7. The democratic leadership in the house was the ones calling for a draft
in the 2004 election cycle

The republicans aren't going near the idea of a draft because they know it will cause power shift in the house and senate in the next election cycle.

The PNAC may want hegemonic domination of the entire Middle East, but they will try to do it without a draft. If they don't control the power structure in D.C. they don't have jack.

8. I Hope You Are Right. But, I Believe You Are Wrong.
They will run as far with the ball as they can while it is in their possession. If that takes a draft, they will do it.

We can only hope that the public would stand against it as they have started to stand against Iraq.

9. Normally I would say yes...
but I'm not putting anything past this administration, anymore. I've learned my lesson. I used to think that there was a line that * & co wouldn't cross. I was wrong. Now, I will never underestimate them again.

10. They may try
But it doesn't matter what they use to try to doll up the idea of a draft. As soon as a draft goes into effect, it's GAME OVER for the Republican party.

13. IT IS GAME OVER RIGHT NOW! THEY KNOW IT! THEY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE!
They are already dead in the water.

How much worse could it be for them NOW?

I suspect that they will push for anything else they can get done on their neocon agenda before banished in 2006.

11. hell, why not make it all out martial law?
He might get another "trifecta": a big natural disaster, collapse of the economy brought on by oil/gas prices, the "need" to enact martial law to deal with the riots that will follow the collapse of the economy....

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going so far as to call the completely fucked up lack of federal response to the hurricane and floods a LIHOP situation (not yet, anyway). I think it's just really poor planning and general incompetence.

But things are so tenuous right now...if there is any kind of additional spike in oil price that disrupts food distribution across the country, or something like that...

well: :scared:

12. Correct me if I'm wrong...
But doesn't the power to enact a draft reside with Congress, and not the Executive branch? So Bush could recommend it, but it would have to make it through the Senate and past a fillibuster, which just doesn't seem all that likely.
