Good Question: How much more can YOU take?
I can't answer that right now...but it's getting close.

4. We have to take it...
Because, ultimately, we need to still be here so we can scream at the top of our lungs about the way that fellow American *CITIZENS* were wronged. TPTB are commiting genocide against other Americans. We must be here and bear witness. We must take it and then, when we can, shove it down their throats.

I'm utterly torn about watching any more news. On the one hand, I feel compelled to watch this story unfold and, yet, on the other, every time they show pictures or even hint at what's going on in the hardest hit areas, I feel such despair and anger overtake me. I can't even express how much emotional pain I feel and, with that, I can't even imagine what the people who are there are going through.

Up until Katrina hit, I remember thinking that I wished I would, some day, be able to be proud of my country again. After the disgrace that this past week has been, I don't know if I'll ever be able to again. I'm proud of others, but I don't think I'll ever be proud of a system that allows this to happen.

Where are the mutinies of NG units refusing to abandon their primary mission - saving American lives?

Will we be required to either sit through watching desperate people charge barricades in an attempt to get to freedom and safety. Or, worse, will we wind up seeing ghastly (ghastlier?) images of the morgue that NOLA is being turned into. I have this horrible premonition of, within a year or so from now, cameramen walking through the remains of NOLA, showing the piles of decaying bodies because our government decided that none of them were worthy of life.

We must "take" it... For the dead and for the living.

10. It is about us. Demanding accountability and pointing out the crimes.
It is about all of us because they are we and we are we and we are all together.

11. oh but it is...
have you ever had to stand by and watch someone you love hurt?
been physically restrained? while others suffer???

we are aching and tormented because we DO hurt- and we are helpless to actually change anything- i've been on both sides... and they both suck- but the .... ego?... underdog?... in me cannot tolerate being restrained while watching injustice-
been beaten within inches of my life on more than one occasion. almost died- and that somehow seems prefrerable to me- if you listen to those in NOLA, most of them, are screaming the same frustration... babies, old people, sick people that no one can help, yet they can't just sit back and watch hurt....

.... it IS about us, because in the end we are all a part of each other, and we cannot live while they suffer- nor would i want to...

8. not
much- i'm pretty medicated right now... and looking forward to sleeping this out.---

"It's getting to the point where i'm no fun anymore
sometimes it hurts, so badly i must cry out loud,
can you still hear me... i am yours .. you are mine.. you
are what you are...."

flashes of the past, that were so hard, but when hope was far more abundant.

We need to give it one last shot eh????

wake up america- how are you? don't you know us we're your children too-

9. HwnN, I am with you.
I need to take a break. I have had positive news today in that most everyone is aghast at what is going on. The only person who didn't bushrant was already firmly in the bushrant camp and instead got off on ranting about not rebuilding NO, but he is also a bit of an idiot that thinks he's enlightened. Anyway, everywhere I went today people were ranting and way upset. This does in no way outweigh what is going on, but I am looking for anything postive and I am about ready to really lose it.

peace. revolution.

I was telling people at work last night, that if I had the means, I'd leave this shit hole excuse of a nation and never look back. I'm probably going to end up in jail though, because the next right wing fuck head that tells me that "this is the greatest country in the world", or who starts talking empty jingoistic bullshit about "freedom", is going to get knocked on his redneck ass.

14. I no longer want my country back
It isn't my country any longer, if it ever was.

I want New Orleans back.

After 20 years away, I just want to go home, and help to rebuild.

I've never been comfortable as an American. I've always been a New Orleanean first, and Acadian Louisanan second and an American third.

I have seen this week the titanic failure of the American experiment.

I give up.

17. Louisiana
would have been better off, I think, if it had been retained by France or Spain, rather than absorbed into the Dysfunctional States of America.
