Another looming "natural" disaster coming within months!
It's called the cold snap.

And they'll all be saying no one could've predicted it when thousand freeze to death.

With oil prices rising the way they have been many poor people will not be able to afford to heat their homes and appartments this winter. It will be worse this year than ever.

1. I'm REALLY worried about the oil prices up here in Maine...
$2.59 a gallon this morning...

People will indeed be freezing to death in record numbers this year...

3. But don't forget no one could've seen it coming.
And why don't they just move south if they knew they couldn't afford heat?

:sarcasm:

4. I'd buy a window mounted heat pump at this point

2. I've also had this nightmare; people
freezing to death in their apartments because they can't afford to heat it, and have to make the choice between meds, food, or heat. :scared:

6. I think it's going to be very bad this year.
And the federal government for years has been cutting back on fuel assistance.

5. It won't be the time for "fingerpointing" then, either...
...it's our duty as Murikans to die quietly and to keep supporting a president who keeps us as dependent as possible on oil in the meantime.

8. How would the pretzeldent ever have known it would get cold in the winter?
It's going to be spinned as the victims' fault.

It's September 2nd and I know this is going to happen. Again, nothing is being plannned.

7. Actually, one more deadly problem with ample warning already
I am talking about bird flu pandemic, which WHO has been warning for sometime. Will all these refugees and people below poverty line be ready? Impeach Bush now to save lives.

11. Last year was a quiet disaster
As part of the New Corporate America, utility companies have gotten more hardassed about payments. Last winter in this corner of New England, a community agency I have volunteered for had an unprecicented number of customers who required help or intervention to keep the bastards from shutting off their heat in the midle of winter.

God only knows what it'll be like this year if we have a cold one.

12. Don't Forget--Hurricane Season Is STILL A Long Way From Over
Don't forget that Hurricane Season is STILL far from over. There's still more than ample opportunity for His Nibs and his fellow Banana Republicans to show how well "the adults" display their so-called "leadership."

13. I heard that they want to relax emissions standards
If I recall correctly, it's the sulfur emissions. If this does happen, air quality will be bad. That means that in some cities there will be wood burning bans. So, heating alternatives will not be permitted. This is going to be a terrible bind for people trying to save on standard heating costs.
