Jack Cafferty is on fire!
:wow: :wow: :wow:

I'm absolutely amazed... he has always seemed VERY right wing to me, but today he has been awesome. He has ripped Bush a new one, tackled race and poverty issues, etc...

4. No...
ANY person with three or more brain cells knows this is a travesty and a tragedy of the first order.

Even a conservative would find it obvious.

11. He said the other day his daughter attends university in NO...
...but left for Rome last Saturday for an exchange semester. I doubt this has anything to do with his "turn-around", but I thought I'd post this anyway...

8. It's like the light bulb went on in his head: people matter

He suddenly figured out that domestic politics is not only about undoing Roosevelt's programs.

13. And the answer is
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 03:55 PM by kenny blankenship
Flood control money slated for the New Orleans district was stolen away from that region because the voters living there are black and poor which makes them invisible at best to the Bush Administration and GOP. (They only notice them when it's convenient to vilify them) When these people vote, they vote for Democratic candidates. This President had big, big plans for nation building in Iraq and diverted the money scheduled for building and protecting this nation.

This aggressive contemptuous neglect has ensured that tens of thousands of N.O.'s inhabitants (who can only be called refugees and former inhabitants) now struggle for their lives, and even those who got away in time face the prospect of starting over with nothing. When they are robbed invisible people are robbed invisibly. Until, the consequences spill out so spectacularly and visibly that the sight can no longer be blotted from view. Today the consequences became visible to Mr. Cafferty for one, and perhaps to many others as well.

Add to the above, the sheer invisibility of the black and poor residents of Orleans Parish and surrounding areas led to the apparent lack of any provision (through FEMA) for mass evacuation of these communities. Evacuation was 100% private sector in nature, strictly a laissez-faire affair in accordance with the new slogan at FEMA under the Bush Administration:

Devil take the hindmost.

Since the hindmost are this nation's black and poor urban populations, who're counted down by both their economic status and their race, the black and poor were the ones left in the Devil's care.

16. It is too bad it took this catastrophe for MSM to grow a pair
I am sorry if I dont seem all that forgiving. I cant help but wonder what our country would have been like had we had a decent media...granted it could not have prevented this, but maybe just maybe hundreds of thousand of people that were alive in 2000 would be alive today, including some of those that had died due to this storm.
