NEVER FORGET: George Bush's Non-Response to Hurricane Katrina ---PIX->>>
For the record.

___________________________________

Sat Aug-28-05

Bush returns from his Idaho vacation to his Crawford vacation home on Wednesday 8/24 and promptly disappears from view. On Saturday thousands of protestors converge on Crawford.

___________________________________

Sun Aug-28-05

On Sunday, as headlines report "Katrina Packing Wind of Nearly 175 Mph" and New Orleans is ordered to evacuate, Bush finally resurfaces in a taped appearance. He makes brief remarks about Katrina and then discusses Iraq. Transcript: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/20050828-1.html Later the White House issues one photo of Bush being briefed on Katrina.

___________________________________

Mon Aug-29-05

As the hurricane rages, Bush flies to Arizona for a "Conversation on Medicare." Upon landing, he presents John McCain with a birthday cake. He then flies to San Diego to spend the night at the luxury resort Hotel del Coronado, reportedly attending a fundraiser that night.

___________________________________

Tue Aug-30-05

As floodwaters inundate New Orleans and the Gulf Coast reels from the catastrophe, Bush speaks at a VJ-Day ceremony in San Diego. Afterwards singer Mark Wills presents him with a guitar. He then returns to Crawford for the night.

___________________________________

Wed Aug-31-05

Bush finally returns to Washington. AF1 flies over New Orleans so Bush can view the disaster. Back at the WH he makes his first official statement about the aftermath of Katrina.

I will never consider him to be a Texan. And he doesn't have a 'ranch' either, it is a 1600 acre 'pig farm'.

Jesus loves the little children.
All the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
they are precisous in his sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

>First lady Laura Bush will travel separately to the area devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and will be meeting face to face with refugees in Lafayette, Louisiana.<
http://www.wben.com/newsroom/fullstory.php?newsid=03648

>First Lady Laura Bush, meanwhile, was in Lafayette, La. Thursday to meet with refugees and to thank volunteers for their efforts in the wake of the hurricane.

She urged those who fled the coast to enroll their children in school as soon as possible, wherever they are now.

“It’s really important for parents to let their kids keep going to school, “ Mrs. Bush said.<

First Lady Visits Louisiana Center

First lady Laura Bush said she's seeing proof that not all parts of Louisiana are in terrible shape.

Bush has visited an evacuation center inside the Cajundome in Lafayette. She told reporters the center "doesn't really look like what we're seeing on television." The first lady said "some things are working really, really well in Louisiana."

She said about 6,000 people are having basic needs met inside the center, and she's urging more volunteers to show up there and at locations around the Gulf Coast.

After at first steering clear of a question about the federal response to Katrina, the first lady later said the response hasn't been the kind the government had in mind.

"We know we can do it better," she said.
http://www.wdsu.com/money/4929903/detail.html

First lady Laura Bush, visiting the Cajundome today to serve food to some of the 6,000 hurricane evacuees living there, praised the volunteers who make shelters work in cities across the Gulf Coast.

She urged people to volunteer whatever time and talent they have to help the thousands displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Her comments reflected the widespread view that evacuees may be forced to stay in shelters for months.

“If you can’t (volunteer) this week, there will be the next week and the next week,” Bush said.

She helped ladle beans, rice and jambalaya to hungry evacuees, many of whom waited for lunch while the first lady toured the arena. She helped serve 60 people by 2 p.m.

Has he ever heard of a Leash? Oh yeah, that's right. His crew came up with the prison torture method. So he must know they exist. Oh but, those are for prisoner's not dogs. What a PUKE TARD!

He appears to be looking back at the camera (reporters?) anxiously, with a questioning look on his face -- as though he's wondering whether they're finally going to reveal him for the charlatan that he is.

As for the "Pet Goat" moment, I think that was either the pic of him playing guitar or having his cake w/ McCain.

66. the NY Times weighs in
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 10:24 AM by Stephanie

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/02/politics/02bush.html

Bloggers also circulated a picture of Mr. Bush playing a guitar at an event in California on Tuesday to imply that he was fiddling while New Orleans drowned. In fact, the picture was taken when the country singer Mark Wills presented Mr. Bush with a guitar backstage at North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado, Calif., after Mr. Bush gave a speech marking the 60th anniversary of the Japanese surrender in World War II.

Later that day, as floodwaters poured into New Orleans, Mr. Bush returned to his ranch in Texas, then left from his ranch for Washington on Wednesday morning.

67. Everyone, PLEASE, ask the NYT what "in fact" is meant to imply!!!
Bumiller seems to be attempting to counter the charges that Bush fiddled while New Orleans drowned - she appears to "correct" us by saying "in fact" Bush was presented with a guitar backstage etc. - WHAT is she SAYING? YES, he was presented with a guitar. He fooled around like a fucking jokester and posed for photogs with his NEW GUITAR WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL SEAL ON IT WHILE PEOPLE WERE DROWNING. WHY DO YOU WRITE "IN FACT" AS IF WE WERE WRONG ABOUT SOMETHING? IN FACT, BUSH DID STRUM WHILE NEW ORLEAN DROWNED, YOU STUPID LYING APOLOGIST.

NO Compassion.

NO Morals.

The PR President, the Crawford Coward.

72. Kicking for historical accuracy.
It took 5 days for this administration to respond. For the truth about this crisis, listen to interviews with Mayor Ray Nagin.

Thank you Stephanie for yet another prescient thread. :kick:

77. NBC news showed the guitar pic tonight as part of DNC
criticizes Bunnypant's response and has pic in their press release. Good!

BTW, I keep hearing Randi and reading DU'ers say he played golf (in Arizona?) but have yet to see a good link on this. I want to find out if this is true and get something concrete I can send to local radio talk show hosts. Anybody have one?

79. I have seen no evidence that he played golf, but he might have
I don't have any photos of the fundraiser but I've heard that's what he did Monday evening. Would like more info on that if any San Diegans read this.

88. Aw but c'mon Steph...it's NOT A POLITICAL THINGY...
We shouldn't make hay of this. It's just as much Bill Clinton's fault and Ted Kennedy's fault as it is all the Repukes fault! :sarcasm:

The shits want all the credit for any good news, and none of the responsibility for the fuck-ups. *fuming*
