Drudge posts note regarding Condi Laughing it up Last Night at a Theatre
No link, it is on Drudge's home page.

"Eyewitness: Sec of State Condi Rice laughs it up at 'Spamalot' while Gulf Coast lays in tatters. Theater goers on New York' City's Great White Way were shocked to see the President's former National Security Advisor at the Monty Python farce last night -- as the rest of the cabinet responds to Hurricane Katrina... 2. Niiiiice.
I've actually noticed Drudge has been taking the odd potshot at the administration lately. He has even direct-linked to Cindy's blog entries. How long before he David Brocks?

9. True, but here's how they think...
"Bush may really really really really suck, but a Democrat would be worse".

Michael (Wiener) Savage does the same thing - he will just go off on the Bush Administration over something, but then at end of his diatribe he'll say something akin to "but the Demoncrats would be worse".

:puke:

14. Yeah, but Drudge is gay, which I think matters.
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 11:08 AM by tasteblind
It's a lot harder for a gay individual to swallow the kind of shit Bush does, because of the abuse that the GOP levels at the gay community on a regular basis. I've noticed a real shift in Drudge's coverage over the last few years. He may be ready to turn.

17. That would be the Flip Flop of all Flip Flops
I have to admit I sometimes listen to Drudge on his Sunday night radio show while walking the dogs - there isn't much else on then. His interlude music is "interesting" - not that there is anything wrong with that - what do the Freepers think?

18. He also doesn't dig the authoritarian bent of the GOP.
He hates surveillance and is sensitive to the Patriot Act.

4. I doubt she'd laugh much at Idle's "FCC song"
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 11:01 AM by thebigidea
stupid warmongering drone - the joke is on YOU.

So fuck you very much dear Mr. Bush
For heroically sitting on your tush
For Halliburton, Enron, all the companies who fail
Let's send them a clear signal and stick Martha straight in jail
She's an uppity rich bitch, and at least she isn't male
So fuck you all so very much

So fuck you dickhead Mr. Cheney too.
Fuck you and fuck everything you do.
Your pacemaker must be a fake
You haven't got a heart
As far as I'm concerned you're just a pasty-faced old fart
And as for Condoleezza she's an intellectual tart
So fuck you all so very much

in other Python-related news, I just got Neil Innes to play a part in my garage band movie this morning! Woohoo! Insert breathless Rutles-related babble here.

24. No! Really?
Not all that much of a Rutles fan but I love Bonzo Dog bigtime. Congrats, and best wishes on your film.

I understand there isn't much relation left between Innes and Idle, unless hate counts as a relationship. Something to do with Idle being a mean cheap moneygrubbing backstabbing bastard...? Still, he can write a good song.

26. I just wish they'd release "Rutland Weekend Television"
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 11:36 AM by thebigidea
though some glorious direct-from-the-Beeb copies have surfaced online recently... those are probably the best we'll ever get. Neil at his best, with tons of wit and a dollop of whimsy.

Bonzo-wise, i'm loving the recent release of those DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SET eps. How can any human alive not enjoy Viv crooning "Monster Mash?"

I'll be sure not to mention the word "Idle" to Herr Innes to prevent a bezerk rage.

Then again, I'll probably get one for doing THIS to his lovely tune:

5. Naw, Drudge's main headline last night was about how great Bush is ...
... "Bush promises to save New Orleans," or some such nonsense.

Drudge is still Drudge. But it's nice to know he busted Condi.

Which is of course possible - or she's just so bloody incompetent that it's better she's out of the way while the work goes on.

12. I have a feeling Colin Powell would have been sticking closer
to his office. He seemed far more conscientious, until they dragged him down.

If he could be put in charge of NOLA recovery operations, but I think only Bush cronies need apply nowadays.

19. He doesn't have that crazed look in his eyes like the rest of them.
I doubt he'd play their game: pretending to help the American public while passing everything out the back door to pals.

He will have to do something GREAT to earn his way back into the human race. I'm thinking whistle-blowing would work.

21. he'll die a company man to the very end
despite the fact that his superiors mocked him, humiliated him, and tossed him out with the trash when it suited them.

I just don't get this obsession with the "goodness" of Colin Powell... with his redemption. You'd think after lapping up Bush's shit for 4 years and offering to stay for another 4, he'd be seen for what he always was.

25. Maybe he simply stood out because he had actually served in the military
while the rest of them were hard at work trying to get rich and powerful.

Also, he doesn't seem as sinister, although what I have learned about his involvement in the My Lai cover-up can't be too wholesome.
