11 million for nonlethal weapons, 40 million for microwave cannon
This article says that the annual budget for these weapons is 11 million for preexisting nonlethal weapons and 40 millions for te microwave crowd dispersal weapon.

Now compare this to the funding for the lifesaving Army Corps of Engineers and New Orleans regional FEMA budgets, e.g. 10.4 million on the Army Corps of Engineers.

Outraged yet?

4. research on non-lethals has been percolating along...
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 04:49 AM by bridgit
for some time, i have fully expected they be deployed on folks such as the anti-globalization movement first, but rioters in search of food & essentials will suffice their budgets; still & not my design but having been already conceived they will be deployed

6. time for chain mail, gas masks, face shields, etc. en masse?
Sounds to me like defensive measures should be taken by the populace as well.

Jane plays with Willi, Willi is happy again
Suki plays with Leo, Sacha plays with Britt

They all have hills to fly them on except for Lin Tai Yu
Dressing up in costumes, playing silly games
Hiding out in tree-tops shouting out rude names

8. well, our government is attacking us, so how do we defend ourselves?
The bodily harm inflicted by these weapons of mass destruction is immense. They're chemical weapons, radiation weapons, and so on.

We'd be perfectly willing to let peace officers walk up to us, handcuff us, and take us away, but we're being attacked with chemical weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. If they were civil, as we naturally expect the civilian authorities to be, instead of using weapons of mass destruction on us and subjecting us to horrors such as those to which Stephen Donaldson was subjected, there would be few, if any issues, despite the false arrest.

What now? We don't want to be killed by chemical weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, but neither do we want to attack anyone. So are gas masks and body armor the solution?

10. what are you talking about "our government is attacking us"?
our government isn't "attacking us"...not yet. we are far more likely to attack each other. watch the late-breaking news on any given day. the weapons you have referred to are serious bio-disruptors, in certain cases, they are said to be able to potentiate, if you will, a response matrix but make no mistake; in my opinion we are several, paper-thin-layers from having them deployed in our direction, as a people, for "holding up a sign" however...

"gas masks and body armor" and other such remedy, even so simple as showing up with a football helmet, can be a tremendous counter-deterrent to they who have shown up with their million dollar toys.

while trying to address your concerns here most earnestly, my recommendation is to take a page from one of the greatest insurgent forces the british were ever forced to encounter: The Continental Army.

the resistance to tyranny & oppression seem no-less than eternal. update your response codes & defenses; reaffirm your manifesto and wait..., if you believe in your own concern, they will soon be marching from over the horizon in your direction.

5. Funny story
I was at Target returning some things and got talking about this weapon. I have a broken ankle, Target has motorized carts, and I was complimenting the CSR for that fact. I brought this weapon up, talking about the 8 screws in my ankle, and if this would cause a serious problem. The CSR stated that this weapon is in the Left Behind series (don't know, didn't read it). I said, I find it amazing that a (so called) Christian nation could produce such a weapon and everyone around me laughed! Mind you, it was not in a bad way, their laughing!
