2. 40 cents a gallon in the Chicago suburbs.
It was $2.99.9 yesterday. Today, $3.35.9.

You have what I consider to be cheap gas.

22. And when I got home last night to the Far North Side.....
the Shell station closest to the house still was posted at $2.999. I didn't stop to see if it was the same at the pump.

Weird. Usually the city is higher than the suburbs.

Very small town, 2 gas stations. Rural area, almost 100 miles to next gas stations. Some kids drive 50 miles one way to high school.

The guy breeding Clydesdales might be looking at a rosy future as people rethink their John Deere tractors... You all are gonna be finding groceries pricey damned soon. Takes diesel to grow food and takes diesel to get it to a store near you. Plant a garden, even if it is just a flower pot with a tomato plant in it. Plant a garden.

21. My husband filled up last night at
Raceway, the cheap (ahem) gas station a block from us. That was at 7:30pm. The price for super was $2.74 a gallon. We went to the store about 9:45 and the price for super had risen to $3.27. (I have to walk past the station to get to work, so it is easy for me to keep track of the prices.)

I went to work this afternoon at 4pm. The price for super was still $3.27. I went out to have a cigarette about 7:30 this evening and the price had risen again to $3.47. I can't wait to see what it is tomorrow. I live in Aberdeen, NJ, in Monmouth county.

30. Before Katrina: $2.47; after:
$2.99. And that was yesterday; I aven't looked for today's rise. But $3 a gallon in this area has got to be a psycholoigcal threshold for a lot of people--the point where they really get pissed off.
