Found this on a Yahoo message board:
y rockinone, 8/31/05 22:40 ET
Fats Domino and his wife stayed at their home in the 9th ward. We have not heard from them since late Sunday night. If anyone has seen them or has any info Please email at findfats@yahoo.com

3. I've been wondering how many of the NOLA blues scene might
be among the missing. Not that anyone life is more valuable than another, but folks like Fats put a face on the tragedy. Personally, I have been wondering if Alex Chilton was in town and if so, did he leave?

prayers to all, and a special one for Fats.

It was pretty big news in NOLA.

5. His neighborhood got hammered
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 09:54 PM by KamaAina
the Lower Ninth Ward, right down by St. Bernard Parish ( really hammered :( ).

You can tell it's his house 'cause it's emblazoned with huge white letters "FD" on the front!

edit: punctuation

15. Wynton Marsalis lives in NYC
he's director of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The family home is on Hickory St. in my old neighborhood of Carrollton, one of many that thought they missed it on Monday and then got hit after the levee breach. Reports there indicate thigh-deep floodwater (still better than 20 ft. though).

17. Ugh...
...well I hope no one was home! There is or was a Marsalis (Branford) living in Durham NC for a while but I don't know if he's still there. Then there's Poppa Ellis and no doubt others in that family.

16. Hmmm...just tonight I was thinking about his song,
"Walking to New Orleans."

I've always loved the man and his music. Hope he has not come to such a sad end.
