Homeland Security? Does it seem like an unorganized DISASTER to anyone
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 06:40 AM by in_cog_ni_to
else? WTF is taking so long to get help in there? Why are boats not all over the place rescuing people? A fleet of HUNDREDS of BOATS should have been a part of the disaster relief plan for NO. Did this disaster scenario come as a surprise to HS and FEMA when everyone knew it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen? Didn't they have plans for what they would do in case of a levee breach? Didn't they have a plan for evacuating people in a timely manner? Didn't they have a plan on getting BOATS into flood areas to get people out? Didn't they have a plan to get food and water to people? The hurricane blew into NO on Monday. This is Wednesday. :wtf: is taking so long to get things done? Are they trying to find $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to fund this? Since we spend $129,000 a MINUTE in Iraq, are they out of funds or what? IMCPO, HOMELAND SECURITY is a damn DISASTER. Katrina was headed toward NO for days. Why wasn't HS preparing for the worst and hoping for the best?

1. My guess is that they're waiting for things to get so desperate
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 06:38 AM by The Backlash Cometh
that no one will question them when they have to privatize the rescue and construction effort. Who knew there was big money in little government?

2. Right on!
And notice what happens when the NATIONAL GUARD is not at home to do what it is supposed to do in situations like this - keep order. The LA National Guard should have been on alert and ready to go in the moment it could.

6. Isn't the new FEMA director one of the idiot's buddy's?
Didn't he work on his campaign and got this important job as payback? It's OBVIOUS the man has NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT HE'S DOING!

11. He was national campaign chair and chief of staff when Bush was gov.
So it seems that before 2000 he did a LOT with disaster relief.

4. Bu*sh gave N.O. hurricane preparedness
to Homeland Security. There was and is no plan.....they never bothered to come up with one. This is our Homeland Security in real live operation. With all the guard and helos in Iraq, we are totally unprotected in this country, even from a hurricane. Think what will happen when terrorists truly want to cause us a tragedy. This should give them lots of confidence in being able to pull one off.
On the other hand, New Orleans is a "blue" oasis in the middle of the south. We all are aware of Bushit's love for revenge. He is getting it big time now. Lord, I never believed I was capable of hate, but I am learning.

10. I wonder if funds are short?
Could they be wondering where the hell they're suppose to get the $$$$$$$$$$ for this? I wonder if the Pentagon could loan NO a few billion dollars?

9. Whose In Charge Now? That Bald Squirley Dude...
How ironic the Repugnicans ended up creating a big government mess with an even bigger one. This is the time for this Department to make a show and shine...and they're so top heavy the torso of this huge beauracracy still hasn't realized the scope of this disaster and its affect on the entire country.

We have yet to see the failure of this agency in this tragedy...that will unfold in the days ahead as what remaining food and water runs out in NOLA and the "Homeland Defense" can't figure out what their real role is in a disaster that isn't run by some Arabic looking guys with bombs in their shoes.

The one that gets to me is the FEMA director...always has to mention meeester boosh when he's interview like his job performance is rated on how well he praises his assholiness rather than take the lead in getting troops, equipment and money into the region. Even the Corp of Engineers had to go through this beauracracy and several blogs state that's the reason it's taken so long to attempt to fix the breeches.

13. FEMA Director...I noticed that too!
I was watching one of his interviews and out of NOWHERE he had to praise the idiot. It felt like he had been given his orders by KKKRove to praise, praise, praise the idiot and he had to make sure he followed his orders. It was strange to me at the time because I didn't know he was given his job as payback for working on the idiot's campaign. Now I know why he did it. :(
