Lets play "Spot the Falacy"
According to the mayor of N.O. incapacitated people/stranded people are supposed to go to the Super Dome...and prepare to stay at least a week.

Follow the logic..

Let's say that you are 60+, crippled/handicapped/ill, no money, no transportation....or maybe you are a single mom with 2 little kids..(21 gallons of water, eh??)

Maybe you live 15-20 blocks away...

and

you are somehow supposed to tote 7 gallons of water (1 gal a day per person, food, clothing, bedding, personal items,etc..

and then when you get to the SD you will be forced to STAND in heat and soon, RAIN & wind..while you and your belongings are seached/sniffed/patted down?????

This is outrageous!

It's no wonder that some people just choose to stay put and roll the dice

3. It really is unbelievable that they would search these people...
Like the chimp, they are obsessed with terrorists 24/7.

What a bunch of cowards!

4. More idiocy
>Let's say that you are 60+, crippled/handicapped/ill, no money, no >transportation....or maybe you are a single mom with 2 little kids..>(21 gallons of water, eh??)

A sign on an elevator that says to not use it during a fire, instead use the staircase.

Remember when airlines began allowing pets to be carried on cargo holds but nobody thought of pressurizing the damn thing? I still remember seeing a dead cat come through on the baggage carasel.

5. Every helicopter either military or civilian within a practical range
should be ferrying thousands of stranded people out of New Orleans.
That will not happen. After they are killed, then we'll see massive helicopter rescue missions. Has the gvt. got one brain cell left or is that they just don't give a damn about poor people?

8. They are even lower than expendable. For Bush's people, they
are just a nuisance, refuse, trash that needs to be dumped. We are being governed by people who have no feelings for mankind, nor anything else on the planet except their bank accounts and power. If we can ever recover somehow, the depravity of this regime will be studied in schools for the next 500 years as an example of total corruption in government, how it happened and the misery it caused.

11. If there is an extraordinary disaster in New Orleans,
I predict the Conservative movement in this country is done for a very long time.

Compassion my butt!

15. Or will "lucky" people just shrug and say .."Too bad"
Aid to these folks will be Salvation Army/Red Cross type aid.. they are renters.. when their rented apt/house gets thrashed, the aid will be for the owner..not the displaced person.. They;ll get some sandwiches, some coffee...some used clothes & blankets..

If they are already on assistance, that's all they;ll get.. If they have no place to go TO, why would they even "need" stuff?

THAT's the compassionate conservative logic at play here.

9. Brown, black and poor white people are no more than a
nuisance for the Bush administration. The depth of their depravity has not yet been revealed to the masses. But when it is, it may equal the Holocaust.

10. Ok, folks, calm down. Evacuating for a hurricane is a tough decision.
The suggestions are nice, but people with money or without are in a bad situation which is getting worse by the minute. Whether to go or stay. What are the chances your home will be broken into after the hurricane with looters (like Andrew). What are the chances of your home making it through. Where would you rather spend a week - in a gigantic camp ground like the superdome or at home.

I'm betting they are suggesting all that water because they are thinking this is going to be really bad. Remeber Andrew? This will be on a much bigger scale. Figure about 100,000 people in the dome. You can bet the electricity will be off for at least a week if not more. What if there is nothing left of downtown New Orleans? It would be nice to have as much water as possible to begin with instead of having to bring it all in the next couple of days. Because they might not be able to bring enough in immediately.

12. The problem isn't the evacuation as such.
The problem is that it's a bloody shame that people are left almost completely to their own devices, thanks mainly to the NG being in Iraq. Apparently there's no useful plan to realistically deal with a disaster like this storm might turn out to be.
For most people it's virtually impossible to bring 5 days of supplies on such short notice. If it's actually going to last a week or more, and if the plan is to actually save 100.000 lives by sheltering them in the dome and leaving them to their own devices - then the plan is likely to fail.

13. They couldn't bring 5 days of food now anyway. I'm betting the grocery
stores are empty as of yesterday. Yes, the majority are left to their own devices. Even with the national guard, it would be like that. Hurricane Andrew in S. Florida - no cops or guardsmen for weeks after that went through. Looting everywhere. They'll be lucky if things are distrupted for a week. I think it was 3-4 months in S. Florida. Last year here in Central Florida it was up to 6 months for some communities.
