Bush failed to mention the women who've been killed in Iraq during his
speech today:

He said (paraphrasing) "...each of these MEN left grieving families"

freudian slip?

1. Naw, just proof he has actually NO idea who died, he is just reciting
the script and as usual, flubbed a few lines.

2. Well he just gave away
a woman's right to vote in Iraq, so maybe he plans the same thing in the US.

5. Actually heard a state dept. talking head saying
democracy doesn't require equal rights for women, pointing out that the US was a democracy in 1900 and women couldn't vote then. I suppose if the Taliban believed in enslaving Africans, we'd hear that before the civil war the US was a democracy and blacks couldn't vote.

He conveniently ignores the equal rights Iraqi women had under Saddam. Wonder what position the UN will take on this.

3. This isn't something they want to trumpet...
They oppose women in combat, but ALL of Iraq is a combat zone, and their presence is a necessity. To make this clear to the common people might well aggravate his base.

Not a good idea.

6. Yeah, don't mention the over 50 women who have died
in Iraq and Afghanistan. Leave out their families. They're just inferior beings anyway.:grr:

8. Oh, well, ya know...
once he gets onto talkin' about women soldiers, folks will start thinkin' about civilian women and mothers, and then pretty soon they start thinkin' about children and babies and all that kinda stuff.
