Lieberman
I'm not supporting Lieberman in 04 but let's not forget Joe went down South in the turbulent sixties to register blacks to vote in Mississippi during Freedom Summer. That took enormous (((physical))) and moral courage.

I don't like Lieberman in 04 because I don't think he can win though he seemed like a nice enough guy when I met him in and Al Gore during the 00 campaign.

My rap on him is his inability to connect.

1. Lieberman would get...

... raked over the coals over his involvement with Enron. Lieberman and Dodd were the two leading Senators blocking FASB accounting changes that would have made collapses of Enron and Arthur Andersen nearly impossible. If I recall, Lieberman received the most campaign cash from the accounting industry, so much so, that it set a record for contributions in a non-election year.

The media would have a field day.

2. You won't find many defenders here...
...though I do think many go overboard with the hyperbole in their statements. That cold-dead hands guy from the NRA also marched in the 60s I believe. 30-40 years is a long record to run on.

The problem I have with Liberman is that he was chosen to moderate a ticket, he's just not appropriate, exciting or engaging enough to lead a ticket, and given his antics during the 2000 campaign (registering his website before the votes were even counted, deep sixing the scrutinizing of absentee ballots, agreeing with the reactionary Cheney's every statement and not challenging him and his gov contracts with Halliburton concerning his (Cheney) saying he made millions 'no thanks to the government'...Joe could have sunk them by saying something as simple as, "That's not what Halliburtons financial disclosure records indicate, they do billions in business with the government of the US, and many other nations, directly and thru subsidiaries, nations like Iraq..."

He's too nice to an opposition that deserves no quarter for what they've done to this country. But he's a very good tipper.

5. Don't worry
Joe is sinking fast and the probability of him winning the Democrating nomination is equal to that of the finding of WMDs in Iraq.
